|
Rumors are circulating in OH-2 that Hackett may run against Mean Jean if Dem primary winner Victoria Wilsun withdraws from the race... http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060508/NEWS01/605080358/1056

The primaries are over. Victoria Wulsin won. I'm a big Paul Hackett fan, but I think someone's just trying to stir up shit.

4. here is what the article says: |
|
"If Wulsin voluntarily withdraws her name from the race, Ohio elections law would allow the Democratic Party to name a replacement."
Frankly, I think it would be the best thing, not only for Ohio, but for the Democratic party, especially after what they did to Paul. I doubt it will happen though

6. He was done with politics because Victoria was going to run - he left |
|
open the possibility of running if she did not run.
He had promised her he would not run, and she believed and entered the primary, and he was going to keep that promise.

8. Why would the Dem primary winner withdraw? |
|
Edited on Tue May-09-06 10:09 AM by TayTay
Health, inability to raise funds, family problems?
Why would the primary winner decide to withdraw suddenly?

9. She thinks Hackett has more name recognition? |
|
Edited on Tue May-09-06 10:25 AM by OzarkDem
From the article, it sounds as though its something she would consider doing if the party asked her to. All the Dems in OH-2 wanted Hackett to run there again. It sounds like she's willing to make a sacrifice for the good of the party - pretty nice of her if you ask me.
from the article:
"What does Wulsin say?
"I do feel that I am the stronger candidate, but I also recognize that he is well known and I am not, and because I would prefer him to Jean, sure, I'd think about it," she said, adding that it's an "interesting" idea but no one has asked her to discuss the issue or to step aside."

11. Sounds like they want to Hackett the primary winner, eh? |
|
People hated this crap when it happened to Hackett (not EXACTLY the same but kinda, eh?) I would LOVE Hackett to run against Mean Jean Biotch, but not this way. Not nice.

Hackett's vociferous and suspicious response shows exactly shwhy he should have been the candidate while -again again again- we see an incredibly soft and naive officilal candidate msuignseriously on her own stepping down. If this idea is "nuts" as hackett claims what can you say about our cnandidate's rapid vapid response. Dear loving Lord of mercy, where do they train these people?
It is how the candidate herself appears to have handled the rumor that is the most appalling political greeness I have seen in a Senate race in recent history. Next time, will the esteeemed Senator from NY and others NOT meddle with a great candidate and replace him with someone so safe there is no danger she can compete with anyone? Or do they want to be roast lamb for the next century of the American Decline?

5. I think Hackett got a huge write in vote |
|
Something like double the amount of the person who "won."

10. If Hacket got more write-in votes than the person who "won" |
|
Wouldn't that mean he won? Does Ohio not recognize write-in votes? If not, why would there be a place for them on the ballot? Did people just write his name in the margin? On second thought, don't they use Diebold? We have electronic voting here and you have to type in a name, letter by letter, to give it a write-in vote.
Sorry, but I'm really confused by your post.

From the article:
Hackett's response?
"Perhaps this is being floated by Republicans to hamper Vic's ability to raise money," he suggested, adding that he hasn't talked to anyone about the plan. "It's nuts, man. Crazy. Not going to happen. I've said it over and over again: I'm not running in that race. How else can I make that clear?"

promoting a 3rd party candidate in a race where a Dem is running (in this case Strickland) is against the DU rules.
Just sayin. Maybe you didn't know.
