Pelosi Responds for GOP Calls to Remove Mollohan
Republican Reps. John Carter (R-Texas) and Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) are expected to send House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) a letter tomorrow asking her to remove Rep. Alan Mollohan (W.Va.) from the Appropriations Committee....

“I look forward to reading their letter to Speaker Hastert on Congressman DeLay , Congressman Ney , Congressman Doolittle and Congressman Pombo ,” Pelosi spokeswoman Jennifer Crider said. “I must have missed their letter on incarcerated Congressman Cunningham .”

2. She should've made this statement on the steps of the Capitol.
Dems have to learn how to stage their snappy comebacks for the TV age.

And they should laugh and refer to Bush's* Backdrop budget
when repukes call it grandstanding.

4.  I still haven't heard
a specific accusation of anything Mollohan did that was illegal. They say he left assets off his disclosure form, but they don't say what assets. They say Mollohan steered money to non-profits in his district. That's an accomplishment, not a transgression. They say Mollohan had business dealings with the executives of the non-profits. Did Mollohan get anything special in the deals? They say Mollohan made lots of money in real estate, but they don't point out anything specific that Mollohan might have done that was illegal.

The Republicans are back to get Bill Clinton strategy of creating a cloud of suspicion around their target, then insisting that the person prove himself innocent, then continuously adding to the accusations so that the target can never disprove them all.

Pelosi should insist that before she takes any action, that the GOP cite a law or ethics rule that was broken, give the specifics of what they say happened, and provide at least some evidence. If Pelosi doesn't insist on this, the GOP will keep attacking members in the same way they are attacking Mollohan.

5. So far, it's just Scaife funded accusations which are still sealed, afaik
She's already removed him from the ethics cmte til it's cleared up, in order to avoid the appearance of blah blah...

The point is well taken that all those repubs under investigation still have their cmte seats.

8. The problem wtih having done that is that to my neighbors here
it looks like he's been removed because he's guilty. Well these putzes can have my Representative Mollohan when they pry him from my cold dead voting machine.

Which they might just try. Today we vote for the first time in my county with those damn evoting machines.
