They know it. In their heart of hearts, they really do know it.
And yet they scream about 'family values'. Morality.

The American standard is so low nowadays that even cheating to win an election is not only condoned, but actually, gleefully celebrated.

There can be **no one** with half a brain who doesn't know Bush stole it. Twice. He cheated. The cheating was widespread.

And yet they tolerate it.

"What do we tell the children" was **the** quote to quote during Clinton's problems. But now I ask those who celebrate wholesale, widespread, over the top, concerted, conceited, and very effective cheating, "What, exactly, **do** we tell the children?"

Cheating on taxes? No problem.

Cheating on your finals? No problem.

Cheating on your resume? No problem.

Cheating by using steroids? No Problem.

What's next? Cheating on your diabetes blood tests?

In their heart of hearts, they know it as well as we do.

Bush and the Republicans cheated.

When is it the right time to simply call people on this? Next time you have a conversation with that batshit crazy brother-in-law of yours, ask him. Does he really think Bush won fair and square?

Really?

Go ahead, ask that question.

And don't me started on lies ...........

1. You don't get it...
Edited on Tue May-09-06 05:07 PM by CGrantt57
Nobody here gets it.

You all think they cheated because they thought they couldn't win otherwise.

That is absolute bullshit.

These are people who believe, in their souls, that they, and they alone, have the answers to all of America's problems.

And, if you don't believe it, hell, we'll just make sure we're in power so we CAN fix it.

They cheat because they think they're "entitled" to rule.

From God to them to the voting booth.

It's not cheatingr when you're doing God's will.

Now, do you get it?

3. I think you're right.
They believe that they're better than everyone else, so they have a right and an obligation to be in charge, to get their way, and to get all the benefits of being on top.

4. We get it
It's just that when you get it and you look way down the road, it is not pretty. It's likely to be bloody around the bend, and no one wants to look at it yet.

Those people have a sense of entitlement because we let them. And if we don't let them, it shall be bloody.

5. If they believed they were entitled...
they wouldn't cover up every frigging thing that they do...And....every thing they frigging do would not be illegal, immoral, and self-serving.

6. I think you are both right ..
... sorta. I think you are right about the people holding office and their cronies and appointees. I think Husb2Sparkly is right in describing the rank and file Republican.

8. Yes, the rank and file is at whom this post is aimed.
The batshit crazy brother in law.

The youth pastor down at the ol' church.

The bookkeeper in the next rat cube.

That guy with the 'murkin flag on the Chevvy pick-em-up

The soccer mom with the big mouth yelling at your kid's coach.

The fat, angry, fifty five year old fat guy in front of you and the CVS check-out line.

You know ...... regular Joes and Janes.

7. To them the ends justify the means. If they had to cheat to get what they
Edited on Tue May-09-06 05:25 PM by BrklynLiberal
wanted, so be it. They do not give a damn!! Most of the people around Dimson, and of course, Dimson himself, have NEVER gotten ANYTHING without cheating. They know no other way.

They have no guilt, no regrets. They do not look back. Whatever gets them that to which they feel they are entitled is justified by the fact that it gets them what they want.

Their only rule is "DON'T GET CAUGHT"

How different are they from organized crime at its worst?

9. Conservatives revel in and respect successful cheating
One of the common components of the various forms of conservatism is selfishness, and the attendant sport is screwing others out of things and beating the system. This isn't just an oddity, it's at the core of the mindset.

One of the dark sides of the American character is "getting away with something"; it's just more tolerated now, and since the 1980 election, a virtue.
