Limbaugh doesn't have high hopes for tonight's Bush speech
NO link. He's talking about this on his show right now.

"Bush is the reason we haven't built up the border patrol."

"Administration has refused to fund new border patrol positions approved by Congress."

"National Guard will not be on the border guarding...if you dilute the significance of the Guard on the border, what's the point of putting them there?"

"If tonight's speech includes remarks about "the work Americans don't want to do," Bush is going to offend people."

"Number of immigrant workers and their families could increase seven-fold if employers continue to look for cheap labor (217 million "new, legal" immigrants over the next 20 years if Senate Bill 2611 is approved)."

"It would make it considerably easier for unskilled workers to remain here permanently."

9. I know. He mentioned one of the Dems major points. Congress
authorized and gave $$$ for 10,000 new border guards. BushCo didn't do it.

OMG :wtf:

15. Except now he's pushing hard for H1-B Visas...
...and that's where the real danger in "lowering wages" exists.

Someone crossing the border from Mexico to pick lettuce is going to have MINIMAL impact on the wages of Network Engineers and Computer Programmers.

He's addressing the issue, saying that companies want immigrant tech workers for lower wages and U.S. tech workers complain about lowered wages and NO ONE is happy...

...but in the final analysis, Limbaugh has been a long-term cheerleader for expanding or removing the cap on H1-B visas.

2. I agree...
I agree that the national guard is just a distraction. They will have no real impact. The word is that they will not have the ability to arrest illegals. If that is true then what is the point.

18. Welcome to DU.
It's a distraction issue & some red meat thrown to the right. If he had been doing his job all along he wouldn't need to give this speech tonight.

19. Welcome to DU
Maybe he should announce that he is putting Brownie in charge of the border. Oh wait, he has been in charge all along. He should be going after the people that are hiring the illegals, but then why would he want to alienate his base.

3. He must read D.U... I posted on them not funding new Border Patrol agents
...even though Congress passed a law (in 2005!) mandating that 2000 new border patrol agents be added every year starting in when? 2006!

8. He does read DU.
He may get some support from his staff, but he combs DU regularly and refers to it...disparagingly, of course...on his show.

17. Yep, a little soft bigotry being peddled by Lardbutt
So that tonight, when Little Lord Pissypants doesn't actually fall down, gibbering madly and frothing at the mouth (or really, even if he does), Limbaugh can go on the air tomorrow, crowing about what a home run his hero hit, and how the country is now 90% in favor of everything Bush again!

11. One fundamental truth which WILL NOT change:
The Freeps DO NOT WANT a "Guest Worker Program."

I know a lot of people here don't want to go to F.R. and read this for themselves, but it's there. Over and over and over again, the freeps are condemning Bush and his proposal.

They also see the National Guard thing as a SCAM, and the ones that DON'T are getting force-fed the concept from Limbaugh, so they will eventually.

...being an ignorant, drug-addicted, bloviating xenophobe who panders to the most ignorant of America's sheeple to be a skill. Until everyone else feels the same, we're stuck with this absurd black-is-white, war-is-peace political mess the country's become. But that's just me... :eyes:
