Turning National Guard into porters. Is that a good idea?

The guard is not trained in border enforcement. Border patrol recruits go through a 20 week training school. I think they go through that training for a reason. So we are pretty much going to pay our national guard soldiers to drive buses and get lunch for the border patrol agents, build fences.... sounds like to me it would be cheaper for the country to hire some illegal immigrants to do that kind of stuff.

Aren`t the Guards a bit strapped already? Didn`t Bush recently nix the idea of 9,000-plus additional border agents?

This is a purely political move using the Guards as window dressing for Bush`s political playhouse. A little for the Conservative base, a little for the Hispanic vote, and a Rovian prayer that voters will once again bite and call a pile of dog crap a strawberry sundae.
