Massachusetts Gov: All dems have double digit leads over repub
May 15, 2006--A month has gone by since our last poll in Massachusetts and there's a new Democrat in the race for Governor. But, the latest Rasmussen Reports Election Poll in the Bay State shows essentially the same thing as our April survey--Lieutenant Governor Kerry Healey (R) trails every Democrat she is matched against.

The survey also found that Governor Mitt Romney would lose his home state Electoral Votes in a match-up with Virginia's Mark Warner.

Thomas Reilly (D) 38%
Kerry Healey (R) 26%
Christy Mihos (I) 16%

Deval Patrick (D) 36%
Kerry Healey (R) 26%
Christy Mihos (I) 16%

Chris Gabrielli (D) 37%
Kerry Healey (R) 25%
Christy Mihos (I) 14%

1. Christy Mihos will eat into any repug's numbers.
The repugs wish he would go away. He's a rich kid with the money enough to play the game.

Food fight in the RW cafeteria..................

he couldn't secure the nomination, so he's running as an "independent".

2. I can name at least one person who helped pay for a Ramussen Poll

"The survey also found that Governor Mitt Romney would lose his home state Electoral Votes in a match-up with Virginia's Mark Warner"

At first I thought that was an edit by the poster of the OP out of a larger group of data. But no, that little factoid sits there all by its lonesome. Good for Warner, but why poll only for a Romney/Warner matchup for President in MA? I doubt they focused on Warner as the leading Democratic Presidential candidate, with his support currenty at about 3 or 4% nationally. I can name several Democrats polling higher than Warner in MA, including a certain home state Senator.

Oh well, good news is good news no matter how it's sliced and diced.

3. Give me a break
They are matching a blue state republican governor (and obvious presidential hopeful) that isn't well known nationally against a red state democratic governor (and obvious presidential hopeful) that isn't well known nationally. If you are bummed Ras didn't use Hillary, as most other pollsters do, send them an email.

Yeah, Rasmussen is in with Warner. You know how much Rasmussen loves democrats. :eyes:

6. It also shouldn't be a surprise
If any Democrat can't win Massachusetts versus an unpopular Governor, then that Democrat is in major trouble. The poster you are responding to was suggesting not Hillary as much as Massachusetts own Senator - who has nearly double the approval rating that Romney does.

The comparison, you speak of, would make more sense if done nationally. We know the Democrats can win Massachusetts.

8. It is good for Warner that he outpolled Romney in that poll
Hell, it's Romney's home State, which kind of belies the little known Republican matched against little know Democrat meme mentioned above. But that makes Warner outpolling Romney there either impressive for Warner or depressing for Romney or both.

You took my comment in the right spirit Nick, thanks. No Warner slam intended, I really was just taken aback about that pairing, and only that pairing being polled, and yes polling companies run polls at the request of individuals. That doesn't prove that happened here and I don't think for a second that anyone could simply purchase the result they want from that poll. But sometimes it is possible to purchase having certain questions asked. Really, it is.
