Survey suggests president's prime time address swayed viewers
Opinion of Bush's immigration policies among people who watched his speech jumped among Republicans, Democrats and independents, according to the survey taken immediately after the primetime televised address.

In the snap poll of 461 people who watched Monday's speech, 42 percent said they had a positive opinion of the president's immigration policies before they heard him speak. Afterward, 67 percent said they had a positive view, a jump of 25 percentage points.

The polled audience was 41 percent Republican, 23 percent Democratic and 36 percent independent. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.

"People who watch the speech do tend to be somewhat more Republican than the voters as a whole," said CNN senior political analyst Bill Schneider. "But that wasn't the best response he's gotten compared to other speeches, in fact it was lower than any speech we've measured since he took office."

4. What did he say that was so profound?
I watched it. Saying you have a plan. Listing said plan.

Are people that dimwitted that they forget it had no substance.

5. He sounded good to reasonable people. The base is enraged.
I'll take that trade. I'd rather his base be pissed off in exchange for golf clapping from the center.

6. Every time you think Americans can't get any dumber that they already
are, they always turn around and surprise you.

My guess is that if Richard Nixon was still around, there are enough idiots out there to vote him into some position of power.

The rest of the world is laughing at us and most Americans are too dense to get it.

9. A 5 percent MOE plus 2/5th's of the audience was Republican....
when in reality the GOP is just 33 percent of the total population, including the fact that this was a small poll sample....oh gee, this must be a Rove poll. Bush said nothing to excite the masses in a positive manner.

10. Not ONE RW radio station liked his speech last night.

Not even Michael Savage, who RIPPED it during the speech. Calling him a liar.

That poll is bullshit.

They don't want to ask too many people, they won't get the response they want.

poll means nothing. Then there is the small percentage of people who watch for the same reason people rubber neck at auto accidents.

15. No accurate poll is even possible.
Everyone was swayed by two very real facts:

1 - no mention of 9/11-Terror-Iraq-Mushroom Clouds

2 - (Very much to the boy's credit) No bumbling language fuckups. He delivered the entire speech in almost discernable English.

These two facts throw people off balance and they don't know how to react.

Hence, artificially high polls.

For this fuckhead, it don't take much to make him look way better than he was before.
