1. Details, please?
Was this a response to a question or part of him telling his cancer survivor story? If the latter, it could have been an act aimed at garnering sympathy.

2. He was stopped dead and could not speak a word.
Had to put his head down and gather himself. When he looked up again he had tears in his eyes. I missed what set him off. Hope someone else can add that.

7. Snow brought up his mother, said he lost her last year (I believe)
That she had the same type cancer as he had.

(I did notice the yellow bracelet - I guess he was asked about it and then teared up and couldn't continue speaking. Will have to watch the tape if reruns later.)

12. Chicken meet Col. Sanders
I guess that's why he supports an administration that CUTS funding for cancer research and throws cancer patients out of the health care system.

Go Tony!

22. and just why would someone ask about the bracelet
everyone knows about the yellow bracelets. lance armstrong made them household knowledge. (didn't kerry wear one?)

it was a put up question to try and make him appear human, so he could do his little "breakdown" act.

i'm not fooled. he is still a partisan hack.

:grr:

Edited on Tue May-16-06 03:48 PM by cboy4
Yea, it didn't look very professional, but so what?

One of the things I like so much about our party is that we're compassionate and humane.

Cancer, for those who don't know, is devastating.

What I will bash him about is cancer is a death sentence for those who don't have the privileged health care benefits and resources he has.

And now he's taking a job with an administration that couldn't care less about people.

And he's getting paid to further lies.

This I will slam him about, over and over.

23. That was my thought - Great Minds - aye?
Hey, I don't doubt that surviving Cancer takes great personal courage.

But Tony Snow getting all teary eyed during the first televised news conference had as much to do with his FEAR of f'ing up as it did with conjuring up ... (wouldn't he be guarded?) Rove probably told him to remember the most painful things and "let them out" so he can garner more empathy from those meanies in WH Press Corps.

No slack! :(

even before the bracelet bit. This bunch really is run by P.T. Barnum.

25. What strikes me about this thing...
..and keep in mind I'm only going by press accounts of what happened, is that my understanding is that it started when someone asked him why he was wearing one of those yellow Lance Armstrong bracelets. Now why would someone in a press conference ask him about that as though it were some kind of odd thing. Everyone and their brother that I see wear one of those friggin things. Why would that be worthy of inquiry by the press corps?

If I read the situation wrong or read an incorrect account then I retract this. But if the whole thing was in fact prompted by a question about his yellow bracelet then it seems fishy to me.

27. I'm not even saying his reaction wasn't genuine....
I'll give the benefit of the doubt to someone who lost a parent to cancer or battled it themselves. But just asking about it in the firt place in a briefing/press conference seems fishy.
