CNN's Jack Cafferty SLAMS the GOP over anti-gay marriage amendment
This is a must see for us Democrats. Scroll down to "Cafferty: Lunatic Fringe" to find the link. WARNING - There is a photo of Ann Coulter near the top of the C&R page.

www.crooksandliars.com

Cafferty was addressing the Senate's upcoming vote to ban gay marriage, and the recent committee "debate".

"...they met behind closed doors and approved a Constitutional Amendment..."

"Senator Spector, in a real show of courage, says that he is, quote 'totally opposed to the amendment', but he voted for it anyway..."

(now it starts to REALLY get good)

"This is all being done by the Republican majority in an effort to appeal to right wing nuts in the Republican party ahead of the upcoming mid-term elections. Ignore all the pressing issues facing the country and instead go grovel at the feet of the lunatic fringe. Senator Frist should be very proud of himself. That's leadership."

1. Our Young Men and Woman are DYING
This country is suffering in every way imaginable from this Administration. We are on the brink, not from "terraists", but from OURSELVES. Our Constitution is being torn to shreds.

Yet, the TOP PRIORITY of our elected officials is to amend our bedraggled Constitution to put HATE and DISCRIMINATION into it?

What sick, sick people.

8. The new 19th amendment
The only constitutional amendment appropriate is:

The right of citizens of the United States to any governmental protections, freedoms and benefits shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State.

(Mild amendment of the existing 19th amendment)

That should keep the religious people happy because it specifically states GOVERNMENTAL.

It also erases ALL pretexts for discrimination by failing to declare any. The only alternative would be a long list of protected classes, inevitably omitting some and leaving room for further argument.
