Democrats that criticize Democrats are "traitors" to their Party ? |
|
First of all, I do not agree with those posters that, at the drop of a pin, will say they are disgusted with one Democrat or another. They are about as fickle as a pickle, in my opinion. However, I am equally perturbed with those that say, "my Party, right or wrong". Those that will defend crooks like William Jefferson or the incompetent Nagin in New Orleans. That is not making our Party stronger. That weakens our Party. We must reserve the right to criticize or to defend on merits other than "he is a Democrat".

Clinton was a crook ? ...
How so ? ....
Sorry, but lying about sex ISNT being crooked ....
Being a 'crook' means that someone is stealing money or goods .... Liars may be many things, but 'crooks' is not one of them ....
Unless of course they lied about stealing money: THEN you would be a republican ....
Now: Explain how Clinton was a crook ....

Big Dog doesn't get a free ride, nor should anyone.
But there are crooks, and then there are crooks...

9. There should be grades of perjury... |

like there are for manslaughter. Lying about sex is something we pretty much all learn to do sometime around the onset of puberty.
Lying about intel gets people killed.
Yes, Slick Willie should get a partial pass on his charge. BushCo should burn.

3. I say LOVE your guy with the FACTS about his record. Don't attack another |

Democrat with an opinion that runs counter to the actual facts in their record.
We should respect the people we support with the truth. Love the guy, embrace the whole record - don't deny it or attack someone else with a false charge to make yourself feel better.

13. republicans support republicans... |
|
regardless of whether they are ethically or morally sound. We don't need that in our party.
I would rather vote for someone trustworthy than someone just because they are a Democrat. Integrity should be the number one thing to consider, because when a politician has that, they will end up making sound decisions with all of our best interest at heart. Besides, if we are really committed to making progressive changes in our country, we need to make sure that those we elect to fight for us are people we know will not sell out our ideals for more power or personal financial gain. If we want that than we might as well switch to the republican party, because that appears to be the status quo over there.

14. Let me say that I would love for Bill Jefferson to go down in flames... |
|
Especially as a New Orleanian. However, as a matter of politics, I hope that it happens after the midterms. Unfortunately having a dem go down undermines our strategy of painting the GOP as corrupt. I'm not saying that it's dirty for me to wish for this, but we need to catch a fucking break once in a while. The GOP catches them all of the time.

15. A critic is the easiest thing to be... |
|
it takes a little more energy and brainpower to actually go out and DO something for the party.
Not that criticism doesn't have it's place.... it's just easy.
