YearlyKos! Wish I could attend. Howard Dean, Wes Clark, Boxer
Man, I wish I could go! This is going to be a watershed event! They are getting more and more leading Dems as speakers and the qualifications of their panelists are phenomenal. And all those Dems and panelists are going to speak to the netroots and have to listen to the netroots! AirAmerica will be broadcasting live.

Are any of DU'ers attending or on panels? June 8-11 in Las Vegas at the Riviera.

Here are just a few names I pulled from their press releases:
Sen Harry Reid (keynote)
Gov. Howard Dean
Leader Nancy Pelosi
Sen. Barbara Boxer
Gen Wes Clark
Ambassador Joe Wilson
Larry Johnson
Murray Waas
Dan Froomkin
Michael Schiavo
John Amato (Crooks and Liars)
David Sirota
Gov Mark Warner
Gov Tom Vilsack
Rep Brad Miller
Jame Hamsher (firedoglake)
(and on and on)

Here's what it's all about:
The YearlyKos Convention is a Netroots Community Convention, coming to Las Vegas June 8-11, 2006 brought to you through a partnership between YearlyKos Inc., 501c3 (pending) organization, and bloggerpower.org, a new 501c4 organization whose primary mission is to support the YearlyKos Convention and other blogosphere inspired projects (more about bloggerpower.org coming soon).

At the YearlyKos Convention there will be a number of events, speakers, panels and networking sessions. The Keynote Speaker will be Senate Democratic Minority Leader Harry Reid. Other prominent elected officials, bloggers, thinkers, writers, will also be attending, speaking, and available for discussion.

The panels will feature bloggers, politicians and leading experts who have a lot to say and teach while learning from you, the netroots. Many people look to the blogosphere to learn about important events and issues, and YearlyKos will amplify that learning process with these panel discussions and other activities.

Will Keenan made them a video (kewl!)

And all of these fine people below will be on specific panels:

Plame Panel
Former Ambassador Joe Wilson will join a panel discussion of the Bush Administration's alleged role in the disclosure of the identity of his wife, the former Valerie Plame, as a covert CIA officer. The panel, which includes Dan Froomkin, Jane Hamsher, Larry Johnson, Christy Smith and Marcy Wheeler, will also discuss the subsequent investigation by Patrick Fitzgerald, the indictment of Scooter Libby and the role that journalists have played.

Communicating the Progressive Vision Panel
A panel discussion about framing concepts and how to communicate a progressive vision. Members of the panel include moderator Jeffrey Feldman (Frameshop), author Jim Derych(Confessions of a Former Dittohead), author John Javna (50 Simple Things you can Do to Save the Earth), Laughing Liberally founder Justin Krebs, and author George Lakoff (Don't Think of an Elephant).

Gov. Howard Dean to speak at the YearlyKos convention in Las Vegas June 10.
Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, will speak to YearlyKos Convention attendees and respond to their questions during a morning session on Saturday, June 10, 2006.

With his 50-State Strategy geared toward developing a robust Democratic presence in every state and region, Gov. Dean's efforts are being met with great interest from the progressive community. Bloggers and other members of the netroots are leading the way in using technology to educate, inform, and motivate citizens, and Dean's program underscores the need for citizen participation.

Championing Science Panel:
Retired General Wesley K. Clark will join a panel discussion on science at the YearlyKos convention in Las Vegas June 9. The panel, titled "Championing Science," also features moderator Stephen Darksyde, author Chris Mooney, Dr. P.Z. Myers, and author Wendy Northcutt. The discussion will focus on current topics in science and the importance of maintaining scientific principles.

Current Events Lunch:
Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif, will discuss current events during a Friday lunch program at the convention being held June 8-11 in Las Vegas. The program enables the netroots to meet directly with two of America's most influential leaders. Sen. Boxer and Rep. Pelosi have personally participated in online discussions with progressive bloggers on sites such as DailyKos.

Anyway, there are dozens of other panels such as education, the impact of the South in politics, the impact of the blogosphere, etc. etc. It's like Woodstock for progressive bloggers and activists.

Not.

Just sayin.'

On edit: apologies to any Las Vegans out there....I'm just going by the image of the city. Only my opinion.

11. I'm thinking of that, actually.
Not that DC "epitomizes progressive values" either, lol! (but for different reasons.)

But I have very limited days off from work. May not be able to happen.

6. There is also the Take Back America conf in DC June 12-14
Many of the same speakers as at YearlyKos will be in DC for this grassroots event.

See the agenda here: http://home.ourfuture.org/tba06/agenda.html

I will be part of a group that will be live-blogging at least some of this event. See you East Coast people there?

10. We should definitely plan a 2007 DU
Meetup at this event. Next summer will be pre-primary season and I'll go to any city!

12. Will C-Span be at this event?
According to postings at kos, everything seems to be pretty much booked - making the notion of planning a trip there pretty much out of the question - if there are plans to webcast the events that would be awesome - and if C-Span is covering any of it that would be great too, though that would likely be limited to Democratic party key note speakers, like Clark, Boxer and Dean.

Also, is Feingold and Gore booked for this event, anyone know?

13. Maybe we will know about C-Span closer to the event's date...
As you say, they'd only show the "big names" if they show any of this at all.

This was on the YearlyKos site:
The Majority Report will be broadcasting LIVE from YearlyKos on June 8 and 9. AirAmerica will also be sponsoring free wireless internet for the entire convention area for all attendees.

Maybe there's a feed you can hook in to?

-----
I don't see Gore's name. But Senator Feingold will be speaking at Take Back America. AirAmerica (and a bunch of other powerhouse speakers) are going to be there in DC too. It's a week after YearlyKos.

Senator Barack Obama*, Senator John Kerry*, Senator Russ Feingold*, Governor Tom Vilsack*, Representative George Miller*, Senator Hillary Clinton*, Senator Harry Reid*, Governor Ed Rendell*, Senator Gary Hart*, Senator Tom Harkin, Rep John Conyers, Representative Nancy Pelosi, Representative John Murtha,

Go to this link to learn about that even:

You should get out there and live-blog for us!!!!
