Bush-Blair Plan A Sham
Here is my capsule analysis of the Bush-Blair Phased Withdrawal Plan as reported by http://www.rawstory.com ;

This plan is a total sham to win the next election cycle for their respective parties. No meaningful withdrawal will occur before the elections, but maximum media attention will be drawn to returning troops in a re-capitulation of Bush's "Mission Accomplished" codpiece show. Following the elections, "events" will prevent any further draw-down, and the plan will conveniently disappear.

1. And they could easily replace troops with others
The 10,000 troops moving from Okinawa to Guam could go straight to Iraq to replace 10k that come home. Meantime, Rove and Snow could play with words for news releases. The press has no motivation to get it right. Before the wingnuts get it deciphered, the election is over. Mission acomplished.

2. No one's withdrawing from anywhere. Bringing home a few
thousand troops is nothing. Especially when we're building the world's biggest embassy in Baghdad.

We can play this. And it's not even playing it. Just keep pointing out how many dead on both sides, how much money this has cost everyone involved. And for what? To create a Shi'ite nation, something Chucklenuts said would NEVER HAPPEN. Remember that? Well, I do.
