Ackerman D Ohio Middle East Subcommittee Ranking Member
He is upbraiding the callers as terrorist sympathizers if they want to provide any aid to the Palastinians. He is a big pro Israel guy.

I'd be interested to know just how far his grubby little hand has gone into the AIPAC cookie jar over the years.

I call Bullshit! We are discussing the Morning show on C-span which is allowed. We are discussing the subcommittee on the middle east which is permitted. We are discussing the business of the US Congress. This is the business of the People of the United States, we must discuss it. If it makes you uncomfortable, do not participate, but do not attempt to tell me not to discuss it, please.
I am talking about him personally and he is talking about funding Hamas. He's sitting here screaming Anti-Semite at everyone who calls and disagrees with him.

making him or Democrats look good. I support Israel, in a general way, and I think Ackerman is way over the top.

land..." Now he is calling the man an anti-semite. Then he tells the man, "I am hanging up on you. Go back to walking your dog."
This is the answer to all ME problems. It is absolutely impossible to criticize Israel for ANYTHING, therefore it is impossible to have a sane discussion of the problems.
He is certainly making himself look like a fool.

8. I live in NYC and I don't think I have ever heard of him before either, |

but he certainly is a poster boy for how to defeat the Democratic Party.
Why doesn't he spend some time screaming about how BushCo has lied to the nation and destroyed our laws? I could appreciate THAT kind of screaming.

11. Calling people anti-semites without good reason huts Jews everywhere. |
|
Because it dilutes the vileness of anti-semitism. Believe me, to steal a bit from John Stewart, anti-semites work very hard to be as vile and disgusting as they are- honor that commitment to evil by using the term anti-semite only when appropriate. :)

Why didn't the caller just say "I didn't mean 'you' in particular, Congressman. I meant 'you' as in the United States".

but i've seen the film of whats going on inside Palestine right now, and it's not pretty. I could even use the word genocide to describe what i saw going on, and i don't like it.
Peace!

13. How am I trying to decieve anyone? |
|
I simply made a point that Ackermen's views are representative of most, if not all, of the Democrats in Congress. What is deceptive or invalid about that?

12. and when a caller asked him about our already allocated aid money |
|
being withheld because they elected Hamas - the caller said but what about the poor in Palistine? Gary said, all excited, that we pick and choose who we give aid to and we don't even give aid to OUR poor - at that point he realized what he said and babbled on to something else.
he was angry with many callers
and he said this amazing thing when asked about Gaza - that Israel won Gaza in a war they didn't start and to the victors go the spoils. but wonderful Israel give Gaza back when they didn't have to.
to the victors go the spoils of war
well, now we know where Gary stands

17. He has a point -- albeit a poorly worded one... |
|
Helping Palestinians is one thing. Helping Hamas is quite another. And with Hamas controling the Palestinian government, it certainly is an ethical quandry. But I suppose "ethical quandry" could be the motto of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, so it makes sense.
