DU the Dixie Chicks!!
The country stations are refusing to play anything from the new Dixie Chicks album, that comes out today (Tuesday). They are still upset over Natalie Maines comments in London about the Village Idiot. Comments, that I might add, are the same as mine....and everyone else here.

TWO WAYS to help.

CALL LOCAL RADIO STATIONS AND DEMAND THAT THEY PLAY THE DIXIE CHICKS NEW MATERIAL.

AND

GO OUT AND BUY THEIR NEW CD!!!

1. Yeah, that'll work. Sure.
A few DUers vs. a multitude of redneck country music fans.

I'm sure the radio stations will cave in a heartbeat!!

6. I loathe country music but I love the Dixie Chicks
because their lyrics are delightful, their harmonies wonderful, and their musicianship solid.

You can dislike a genre overall and appreciate some of the best people within it.

James McMurtry falls into this category, too.

Dunno if I'll buy the CD, I'll have to hear a little more of it. "Earl" sold me on the first one. I listened to it quite a bit before I selected a few cuts to put on a car CD.

5. Is it really country?
Edited on Tue May-23-06 08:53 AM by Wickerman
the track I heard last night on Medium was pretty crossover. They deserve a wider, more open-minded audience - or at least more open-minded programmers.

The best way to get them on the air is thru CD sales. If the thing sells well the corporate lackeys will crumble.

7. Their performance on Letterman last night didn't sound Country either
And I mean that as a compliment--most modern Country music sounds to me like being strangled by a Confederate flag.

13. "Not ready to make nice" is what you heard...it is a song of anger toward.
...those who jumped on them. And yes, it is really crossover worthy, and I think it was intentional.

10. Just downloaded my pre-order from iTunes and am listening--
it's very good so far (and I'm NOT a country music fan). By the way, the album is number 3 in sales on iTunes right now!

16. I went to Target at 3pm today to buy 2 CD's and had to ask the
clerk where they would be. They pointed to a tiny little rack that couldn't have held more than 8 CD's and said "they're supposed to be there, but we're not getting our shipments in". WTF is up with that? I found it interesting too that in this day and age of electronics they couldn't give me a clue when the shipment would come in. I smell a rat.

17. Boycott ordered by MegaCorp Station Owner?
Pardon me for not knowing the details, but weren't the Dixie Chicks refused airtime by some MegaMonopolyStation ownership? The stations had no choice in the matter?

18. Our local station KGKL...
had a poll and 0ver 75% of their listeners did not want the Dixie Chicks on there. But then, this is Texas. Some people really know how to carry around a grudge around here.
