Progressive Hawaii Sen. Akaka is being targeted by the DLC in primary
DLCers are angry that progressives are challenging Lieberman's seat. Well look over there, over in Hawaii a similar situation is playing out in Hawaii's Democratic primary.

Hawaii Democratic Senator Akaka is up for re-election this year. The DLC is supporting a challenger U.S. Rep. Ed Case for Akaka's seat. Case, who is not a very loyal or progressive Democrat when it comes to either voting or rhetoric, is vacating his house seat.

If anyone has the gall to claim that progressives are wasting Democratic resources in 2006 by challenging incumbents like Lieberman, just point to Hawaii where conservatives are doing the same thing. How dare the DLC waste Democratic resources like this! Don't they know the real target should be Republicans?

1. Everyone should be challenged ..
No free passes. All public officials should have to put up with a chalenge just so they can be held accountable for what they have been doing in office. If they have done a good job they will pass, if not cya .... free passes are bs imo.
View primary challenges as a semi annual (or 4 yr) report to shareholders (us)

2. I agree - Case has every right to run. This is not an issue
Of course in Hawaii against someone as beloved as Daniel Akaka, Case will also probably lose

5. I agree. Up to right now no one has said Case shouldn't run
This situation in Hawaii has been playing out quietly with no interference by Progressives. The same cannot be said for the primary challenge in Connecticut where the DLC is constantly yelling about Progressives wasting resources and hurting chances in the Senate.

Both races should be able to play out without being hampered by others in the party.

3. And they're doing the same with Lyn Woolsey's seat
Lyn Woolsey seat is being "challenged" by a real DINO, Joe Nation who has been a huge disservice to the 6th district State Assemply seat for the past several years - he's backed by Big Business, Big Development - and now he's been running ads on Tv - 24/7 for the past 2 months blaming Bush's No Child Left Behind policy on Woolsey, claiming that somehow - HE wouldn't be "fooled" by Bush!!!!

Now suddenly, after Gore's film was released, Joe Nation has decided that the Environment is his issue.. and claiming to be spearheading important efforts to clean up the environment.

He's another sleazy pretender - a Republican pretending to be a Democrat. he's no progressive and he is a liar.

7. Maybe they should be called LaPore Democrats, since people seem to get
super offended at the term "DINO" and because most of them probably are operatives in the first place. :hi:

11. Theresa LaPore was the "die hard" Democrat who designed the confusing and

now infamous BUTTERFLY BALLOTS in Florida for election 2000. The Republican party welcomed her with open arms when she switched over right after the election. I didn't find out until later that she had been a Republican first, then switched over to Dem solely for the election....
Paste this: +"theresa lapore" +florida into Google and search. :hi:
Sorry for not being more clear!

(Edited to correct the spelling of Theresa. I had first spelled it starting with the letter C by habit)

4. DLC members ARE Republicans.
They try to call themselves moderates or centrists, but anything even slightly left of Ronald Reagan is now considered far left liberal. The DLC continues to fuel the lie that in order to win, Democrats must look as much like Republicans as possible. :eyes:
I still can't understand why they (DLC) waste so much time trying to appeal to people who will NEVER VOTE FOR THEM! They claim ONE winner - Bill Clinton, and Bill didn't even need them in the first place.
In case you missed my sig line - DNC + DLC = GOP
