James Carville on Larry King last night speaking about '08 candidates.

KING: McCain a lock?

CARVILLE: No. Nobody's a lock. And I think Senator Clinton, who I happen to know pretty well, she doesn't think that she's a lock. There are going to be a lot of Democrats running for this. I wouldn't be surprised if you have six or seven top-tier candidates...

L. KING: ... Gore too?

CARVILLE: Very well could. I have a theory, but it's a theory like evolution's a theory, OK? It's been proven a thousand times. Anybody that has ever run for president or vice president wants to run again. He may be. But -- I won't get into that. He wants to run for president.

L. KING: He does?

CARVILLE: It's like - running for president is like having sex. You don't do it once and say, "Well, I've already done that, I'll move on to something else."

And so there's going to be a lot of Democrats and a lot of Republicans that are going to get that -- who have run before are going to get out there. A lot of Democrats -- a lot of Democrats are saying, "You know, I should have gone in '04, and I'm not going to sit this out."

I think Senator Clinton -- and I think she'll win because I think the world of her. I think she's very smart, very tough and I think she understands that. And I know for a fact she doesn't look at these polls and say I'm the front-runner. I don't think she's going to run a classic front-runner campaign.

But it's going to be tough. Governor Warner, Russ Feingold's going to be a big factor in this. Senator Biden may run. Senator Dodd may run.

ROBERTS: Edwards is out there.

CARVILLE: Edwards is out there. Senator Bayh's raising money hand over foot.

(CROSSTALK)

CARVILLE: I'm getting the thing if I don't mention someone I'll get 100 calls. But they're going to be out there.

ROBERTS: At the last Republican convention I talked with Zell Miller and he said there's no Democrat out there who I could vote for because there's no Democrat out there that shares my conservative values. I said, "Well, what Democrat could you vote for president?" He said Evan Bayh.

CARVILLE: He's endorsed Ralph Reed, so there's not many Ralph Reed Democrats out there.

1. I don't know much about Evan Bayh, but if
Zell Miller likes him, he might as well quit now. His campaign will be over before it starts.

2. Zell Miller is a dixiecrat in the mold of Lester Maddox. So yes,
there are no Democrats that Zell Lester Maddox Miller would vote for.

3. I didn't see the show, but what's up with the snark about Gore?
That's a crappy thing to say, if the transcript in any way relates to his sentiments. I know there's no particular love lost between the Gore camp and the Clinton camp(s), but why be so shitty?

James ..... I usta love ya, man .... but nowadays I don't even recognize you. I'll look for a new Angry Man, thanks.

7. making a left turn
.....but Carville did state that no one cares anymore about what bush does or says anymore- in other words - I guess he's just background noise.

scary, idiotic background noise because of the horror he causes, but still background noise.

hmmmmmmm

excuse if this has been discussed on another thread - it's just something that is 'sticking' with me!

I took this passage as snark:
L. KING: ...

On second read, I may have misinterpreted it. His last line may have been intropsective.

9. I think Carville has alot of political sense
That said, it is becoming far too tempered with "playing all the angles" instead of just saying what you believe in and contrasting it with what your opponent is doing. Also, I know he's very fond of the Clintons, but Bill is not coming back and Hillary is not Bill - not even close, so forget about the Clintons!!!

4. Z(h)ell Miller is NOT -- repeat NOT -- a Democrat
He should have left the party long ago, instead of stubbornly trying to make it bend to what he calls "values" and providing the Thugs with a limp case for "bipartisanship." He and Joementum are Trojan horses and ought to be put out to pasture.

5. lol, "If I don't mention someone"
Yeah Carville, like John Kerry. You're too obvious. Anybody who doesn't think that John Kerry is the only one Hillary Clinton is worried about just doesn't know a thing about politics. This was too funny.

6. Evan Bayh can forget about it.
He might be formidable in the general, but has no chance in a primary.

13. Carvelle is attached at the hip to Clinton. I believe what ever he says
will ultimately place Senator Clinton in the best light. You know, he really shouldn't be on CNN as a political consultant because he is tied so tightly to Clinton.

15. So much horse manure ...
So if Gore, Edwards or Kerry tries to enter the race for 2008, its because they are addicted to running. Not because they care. Not because they have a plan for the future. Just because they love running and enjoy being at the center of a Presidential Campaign (which according to Carville - is like having sex).

Carville always comes across to me like Bill Clinton's drinking buddy. Like they watch sports together or something. He plays to the stereotype of southern men as "shoot first - ask questions later" kinda guys. Even if he is only shooting his mouth - not bullets. He has a crazy glint in his eye, like you could imagine him as the defendant in a murder trial (or does that make me a snob?)

Al Gore is like the opposite of Carville. A very serious kinda guy. Always thinks before opening his mouth. Addresses the issues as he sees them. Doesn't try to act "folksy" all the time.

My hunch is that Gore and Carville have never been real close.

17. Carvel and Begala are the poster boys of everything that is wrong in DLC

they are DLC insiders that are nothing more than a pair of whores. Naturaly, they get all the air time on the corporate media.
