If Al Gore decides to run for President, it will be because....
...he truly believes he will be able to make a difference. He will not run just so he can be called "Mr. President". He is a revolutionary. He will be looking for revolutionary changes if decides to run for the highest office in the land. He is a radical environmentalist. But not radical in a bad sense. He believes we need to stop polluting our environment with fossil fuel residues. He believes we need to look for alternative means of energy immediately.

He definitely will not run if the Democrats are not in control of the House or Senate. He has ideas and an agenda that are revolutionary and he has no wish to sit in gridlock for 4 or 8 years with the Republicans blocking every idea. He understands we need radical change in our government - not only in our environmental policies, but also in healthcare, education, science, and labor practices. If he decides to run, it will be because he wants to do something great for our country.

1. I am so torn on Gore.
I cannot help but blame him for losing to Bush, but I still like him.

2. He officially got 1/2 a million more votes...and untold thousands more.
(Uncounted, discounted, discarded). Gore...we need you.

5. Al did not lose! It was stolen by the Bush group and the USSC!
He got more popular votes than Bush. I was very angry at him for conceding to the criminals!I would not have conceded until EVERY vote had been counted, even if it took a year! I still love him and will totally support him if he runs again!

3. regroup
It seemed like he kind of dropped off the face of the Earth following his 2000 lost. Perhaps he used that time to really organize himself. I would be thrilled if he were to run, but preferably w/o Lieberman by his side.

4. If Gore runs it will be for the same reason that he accepted the
Supreme Court ruling in 2000, to prevent (at least in his mind) a violent revolution.

6. And many of us sensed that at that time
To paraphrase what he said recently, in our society there is no intermediate step between a Supreme Court decision and a revolution. I hope to look up the exact wording and put it in a signature line. It's a quote for the decades.

7. Here's the exact quote:
"In our system, there’s no intermediate step between a definitive Supreme Court decision and violent revolution."

:)

9. THANK YOU SO MUCH - I knew we kept you around for some reason!
Isn't that so statement so profound -- and the perfect response to those who say Gore did not do enough in 2000?

I believe these words will live past our lifetimes in the history books.

8. I believe Gore is NOT running...
Edited on Wed May-24-06 11:28 PM by windbreeze
Recently at the Canne film festival...he commented..."I don't plan to be a candidate again for national office and I don't see any circumstances that would make me change my mind"....he elaborated further, saying,"I was in elective politics for 24 years. I've made four national races, two
for president, two for vice president. I have found there are other ways
to serve, and I'm enjoying them."

10. Did you happen to see MSNBC tonight?
They reviewed some historical presidential comments, one of which included Nixon stating just prior to his second attempt at the presidency, "I have no plans to run ... etc." and then it immediately switched to Al Gore and his recent statement on the Today Show, saying almost word for word the same statement. Of course, Al Gore has no plans to run TODAY but he might TOMORROW. It's Washington-speak.

11. OK, I'm not Al but...
I'm a huge Gore fan. I'd love to see him run again. But at the end of the day, I think his decision will be based on practical political grounds, and a healthy dose of ego. Is it worth it for him to run again? We shouldn't misconstrue what he has done for the last 6 years. Remember, he tried to be a king-maker with Howard Dean. So he's not opting out of the process. My take is that he was burned by 2000, and that served to drive him out of the 2004 race. But he has since had 2 years of glowing press(at least from the blogosphere and many Dems). This is something he has never had before in his political career. That type of stuff is real seductive.

My guess- big Al is in.
