Is Ehud Olmert the next Tony Blair?
Another ally we can dupe into a War for Oil and then keep using until they also have no political clout? In GW I, Bush senior exerted a great deal of pressure on Israel not to respond because out of fear of starting WW III. Little Boots' ideas don't have the wide scope of his more-thoughtful father. Little Boots only knows conquest. He's exhausted goodwill from every other country, including all our other longtime allies.

1. Maybe, but...
First off, thanks for the Little Boots reference. W is indeed a Caligula figure, though without the imagination. A vicious child in a man's body.

Phony Tony's popularity is down to 28% in the latest polls, so his days are distinctly numbered. I don't know if Olmert will suffer the same fate, though. As long as he keeps America committed to Israel's support, he should be secure at home. If the US decides to go totally whacko, however, the bets are off for all of us.

2. I'm still thinking of Cheney''s remarks on MTP
He told Tim Russert that we'll let the Israelis attack Iran (paraphrasing here ... indulge me) and then we'll (the USA) clean up the diplomatic mess. I'm very afraid. These people are beyond maniacal. I watched an interview with Tony Snow ... I think it was on Lou Dobbs ... this is frightening.

3. Yeah, I suppose if BushCo really are playing...
...suicide poker, they would play the Israel card sooner rather than later (before Iran develops a credible response). Maybe sacrifice the country in a flash of glory to throw the Middle East into utter chaos, from which the US would hope to set the agenda and reap the spoils. Not so much Armageddon as "I'm a gettin' as much loot as I can."
