DU Lie of the Day: Democrats are saying 'no impeachment' |
|
This is not a thread about **any** one democrat. It is about every one of them. From our most right leaning to our most left leaning.
To my knowledge not ONE of them has said, flat out and definitively, they would oppose impeachment.
To say otherwise is to lie.
Convince me I'm wrong.

5. Nancy Pelosi, more honestly stated, said they will proceed with |
|
investigations and that impeachment is off the table .... (for now ......)
We all know that.
Don't we?

6. Doesn't "off the table" technically mean... |
|
... it's not a point of negotiation?

8. Everyone ignores the elipses at the end of that statement |
|
When she made the statement, it ended in an ellipses, not a period.

2. They would be stupid to |
|
say anything decisive on the issue. It's certainly NOT the time to be talking of impeachment. Talking about impeachment now will hurt the Dems in Nov.

9. I'd bet they've read the poll |
|
... and I'd bet it won't change a single public statement right now.
And that would be a good srategy.

4. Can one "lie" if they believe what they say to be the truth? |
|
If I say "this potato salad has mustard in it," because that's what I believe, I'm not lying if it turns out to be something else. I'm just ignorant.
Otherwise -- I've not seen anyone say "no impeachment ever." (I've seen plenty saying "let's not jump the gun; no impeachment now.") Doesn't mean nobody has -- but I haven't seen it.

11. That's not what I'm hearing (from repukes) |
|
They are trying to tell everyone that if we take Congress, the first thing we will do is start impeachment hearings. This is a lame attempt to paint us as the party of petty partisan bickering. But tell me how this works: We are the party of petty partisan bickering because it is *possible* we would impeach a president over debatable evidence, when they actually DID impeach a president on debatable evidence. I have no idea how their little minds came to that conclusion.

14. Let's get off "impeachment" until the 8th of November - then tackle...... |
|
....this entire administration head on. Yes the Democratic Party is saying impeachment is off the table BUT they ARE NOT SAYING FOR HOW LONG. Yes, we've suffered through pure hell for six long miserable years without any hope of change but a few more months may well bring that much needed change. We need to concentrate on the 06 elections first and get control of Congress back. Our Democratic Leaders are using their brains unlike a few here at DU - let's NOT galvanize the neocons/fundies into hitting the polls in November in droves just to stop the Democratic Party. Think people, think about the long term.
ALWAYS GIVE YOURSELF ENOUGH SPACE TO COME BACK AND FIGHT ANOTHER DAY. Pay back is a royal b.... and it's coming. :bounce:
