Denny Hastert, Fristy, and now TOM DELAY condemning FBI raid on |
|
a Dem congressional office. Since when does this crowd care about constitutional niceties and doing things according to proper procedure? This is the same group that has been flouting House and Senate rules for the past 6 years to ram through whatever George Bush wants. Does anyone else smell a rat?

They recognize if it can happen to Jefferson, it can happen to them. They're only worried about their own hides.

6. Normally, I'd be sympathetic to this argument. |

But considering the suspects who are complaining, I'm thinking it might not be such a bad thing. Long term, maybe Congress will start doing the jobs they were hired for and provide oversight on this tyranny biased administration. I think they assumed the Executive would provide cover for their transgressions in return for their rubberstamping approval. Looks like they got double-crossed?

What happens next year when the dems have a majority and start investigations of the corruption, MIHOP, and all of the other scandals of the past few years? If we turn a blind eye to this, the * administration has precedent to invade Congress and steal its investigative materials. Slippery, slimy slope.

But this isn't my dad's Republican Party. I can't count how many precedents that this Congress and Executive branch have created.....it's like there are no rules anymore. I'm not even sure we can count on our electoral process to correct the problems. The only thing that might change the equation is the FBI going after Congressional Corruption. I'm not sure how you can break up the Republican Syndicate without it. But I say this fully cognizant of the constitutional problems this creates.

9. Not sure what's going on here |

yes, the pubs in Congress have been marching lock step with * but things are starting to turn. First, the pubs know that they will lose in November so some of them are stepping up and trying to distance themselves from * in the hope of keeping their seats. Second, I think many of them are learning that * and his narrow circle won't protect them when push comes to shove. * will turn on anyone if he deems it necessary. Look how Rove turned on Novak, according to recent reports. I do think that the Congressional leadership is genuinely shocked. I think * overplayed his hand on this one. * thought the pubs would just roll over because he did it to a dem. The pubs are starting to understand that they are next, if it's convenient for *. Finally, I think Hastert's claiming retaliation by the DOJ show that this is genuine concern, not some chess game set up to trap dems.
