What I Like About Al Gore |
|
I've been a Gore supporter for many years - voted for him in his first attempt at the Presidency in 1988. But, the action that he took in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina really sealed the deal for me. When they were trying to evacuate people from New Orleans, Gore rented a bunch of buses, drove them down to NO from Tennessee, and took a bunch of people back on them. Very quietly, and without much fanfare. Not because he was asked to do it, or because it would have put him in the limelight again, but because it was the right thing to do. Many of us wanted to do something to help, and he had the money and name recognition to get it done. As opposed to *, who didn't do squat except fly over and do some photo ops.

This is evidently not a photo-op (unlike the "look what a heck of a job I'm doing" type done by Bush when he showed up in the city) -- his hair's mussed and he's staying out of camera range. He's there to work. http://www.chander.com/2005/09/

Anyway, Gore for prez. Yes.
Get on the bandwagon while there's still room; we're riding it all the way to the White House.

4. His post-Katrina action just re-affirmed my profound admiration for him. |
|
And now, we learn that, flying over NO on the way to his "heckuva job, Brownie" photo-op, Bush petulantly demanded that some fires he could see from the air be immediately put out, and we're supposed to be impressed by the depth and authenticity of his compassion. Frankly, all it tells me is that he didn't want the visual of a major American city ravaged by floods and fires to become the graphic representation of his failure.

You're right, he did charter 2 planes. My brain is definitely in 3-day-weekend mode.

10. I voted for him in 1988 too after I read his book. |

I remember a campaign rally before the primary here in California. It was the first time I'd seen a politician up close and in person.
He's a great guy...which reminds me, I need to go see his movie.

tell you..I think Gore/Clark is probably our best ticket. Clark inspires me almost as much as Gore does. Two very sincere men it this insincere biz.
