At least 4 dead, 16 wounded after traffic accident, riot

KABUL, Afghanistan - U.S. and Afghan security forces fired on protesters in the Afghan capital after a riot erupted Monday because of a deadly traffic accident involving U.S. troops, leaving at least four people dead, police and eyewitnesses said.

Sher Shah Usafi, a Kabul police chief, said at least three people were killed and 16 wounded in the crash, while U.S. forces killed one person and wounded two as they fired on dozens of rioters shouting “Down with America!” and throwing stones at them while they fled the area.

2. Updated resume? ....
Like :

OBJECTIVE: To obtain a responsible position involving kowtowing to rich ass corporations while selling out my own countrymen for personal gain ....

EXPERIENCE: LONG History of association with major petrochemical organizations who utilize and exploit the national resources of any weak nation with enough quislings (like me) to sell out their own nation for filthy lucre ... Worked for UNOCAL and ENRON in planning/arranging/shoving through Afghani Pipeline project with other well known dictatorial sycophants in area. Contributed to the death of well known Afghani expatriots by providing information as to the whereabouts of those expatriots to agents of the PNAC, and to fellow quislings, like Zalmay Khalilzad, current Ambassador to Iraq.

Etc .....

Yeah .... He has much to add ....

4. You forgot...
I have the distinct ability to stand in front of the world and pretend to be relevant, to project the facade of being a tough leader of an embattled nation, while everything all around me goes to hell in a handbasket. I can toady up to the most corrupt administration on earth and give a press conference with their fake pResident not only with a facade of conviction and honesty, but also with a straight face. Although I govern an territory about six square blocks in total area, with the help of my neocon friends and whackjob supporters in the bush** White House, I've been able to convice at least one-third of the American people that I am, in fact, the leader of Afganistan and that with the continued help of the US and NATO forces, Afganistan is becoming a beacon for the world, a light of freedom and democracy, just like Iraq. Ask my buddy george, he'll tell ya.

5. Perhaps Afghanistan needs a Riot Act and US soldiers in Afghanistan
Edited on Mon May-29-06 07:31 AM by Boojatta
need a recording, in the local languages, of someone reading that law out loud. The soldiers could use tape players with high intensity loudspeakers to broadcast the message. Then they could wait for a response and decide whether or not to use live ammunition.

6. AP account: "Afghans riot after U.S. truck accident"
It's not entirely clear what happened...

Col. Thomas Collins, a coalition spokesman, voiced regret for any deaths and injuries. He said a large cargo truck in a coalition convoy had suffered a mechanical failure and hit as many as 12 civilian vehicles at a busy intersection. He said the coalition was conducting an investigation.

(snip)

Witnesses said the incident began when a convoy of at least three U.S. Humvees came into the city from the outskirts and hit several civilian cars in rush-hour traffic jam.

"The American convoy hit all the vehicles which were in their way. They didn't care about the civilians at all," said Mohammad Wali, 21, a shopkeeper.

(snip)

Afghans often complain about what they call the aggressive driving tactics of the U.S. military. Convoys often pass through crowded areas at high speeds and sometimes disregard road rules. The U.S. military says such tactics are necessary to protect troops from attack.

7. Might have been an accident...
... but remember the Haditha Massacre, where a dozen or two civilians were apparently slaughtered in their homes by Marines was originally reported as a "roadside bomb."
