Tracking easy with wireless gadgets
Practice brings up privacy concerns
By Robert S. Boyd
Washington Bureau
1/83/8

WASHINGTON | For better or for worse, it's rapidly getting easier for others to know where you are, sometimes 24/7.

Thanks to the explosive spread of wireless technology - particularly cell phones, car navigation systems and global-positioning systems - parents, employers, detectives and government agents can track your movements, with or without your being aware of it.

Many people don't realize that a cell phone or a BlackBerry is constantly broadcasting its location whenever its power is on, whether or not a call is in progress.

1. Question: I read that in 2008 all US citizens will be required to
carry ID's with chips in them. No one can drive, fly, etc. without one. Is it true?

2. Looks like it. Here's an article....
http://www.federaltimes.com/index.php?S=1590231

2005 Real ID Act requires those who live or work in the United States to carry a federally approved ID card to travel on an airplane, open a bank account, collect Social Security payments, or take advantage of nearly any government service by 2008. Each state will likely have to reissue its driver’s licenses to meet federal standards. The 2008 mandate lends a sense of urgency to implementing the Real ID Act.

As the Homeland Security Department considers using electronic technology for the Real ID Act, it should establish a path that states may follow to comply with the act, particularly if they don’t plan to use smart cards.

6. More like Apocalyptic-ish
This is almost exactly what failed prophet turned "700 Club" commentator Hal Lindsay predicted in his 1970 best seller, "The Late, Great Planet Earth."

From Revelations, chapter 13, verses 16 and 17 (KJV): "And he (the Antichrist) causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name."

I have to wonder how the GOP "base" will write off Bush enacting one of the biggest presumed signs that Christ has already come and gone.

8. Always thought so....
So the Souths great hope and savior turns out to be the Antichrist? Looks like the jokes on them? If they ever "get it"?

But the overall disaster involves the rest of us?
