Hey! Conservatives and Libertarians! Wanna REALLY “shrink the gov’t” ... |
|
...until you can “drown it in a bathtub?!?”
Here’s a surefire, guaranteed way to pull it off:
A CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT (you guys love those anyway!) requiring the Federal Government to operate on a carbon-neutral basis!
Think about it! Right now the vast, bloated central government operates on a basis that pours millions of tons of net carbon emissions into the environment. Every Federal building’s utilities consumption, every Federal employee’s commuting mileage, air flights, etc. contributes to the government’s net emissions debt. In order to comply with the Constitution, the government would have to close offices, lay off employees, and/or support each facility and employee with a program of offsets.
Can’t you just imagine it? Whole government departments winking out of existence as the bureaucrats scramble to prioritize and save core functions.
And best of all…. the whiney politically-correct liberal chattering classes would be grinding their teeth in frustration because they couldn’t oppose it! It’s “good for the environment!!" They’d have to watch their favorite welfare programs vanish down the drain and grin and bear it!
heheheheh… think about it.
evilly, Bright
Note for the irony-impaired: The preceding has been an exercise in Socratic irony. Look it up if you’re scratching your head right about now.

Except that the slime-coating part is SOOOooooo icky...

I doubt they could even wrap their brains around "carbon neutral".
But, take heart... if Halliburton can find a way to make huge profits being "carbon neutral", the Republicans will be all over it!
