The GOP/ROVE machine is going to take you down AGAIN!!!
It is already in full swing baby, you just need to look a little closer:

1) NY Times article slamming Hillary and her marriage last week
2) Pelosi's very negative article this morning about how both sides are hoping she is the speaker, can you imagine a Pelosi agenda?...etc. OMG!!!
3) Multiple stories about Reid taking free tickets and Abramoff client's money...etc.

It is happening before your own eyes...Slowly, but it will get nastier soon...Frankly, I see us falling asleep at the switch AGAIN!!! Before too long, this will take hold, then Rove buries us in November.

The only solution, the only way for us to win, is to move to the left and take the gloves off now...We need Feingold out there on everything progressive, we need Murtha out there on everything Iraq, we need Dean out there on domestic policy, and we need Wesley Clark out there on foreign policy...

Then, we need attack dogs: Kerry, Kennedy, Edwards, Gore...etc.

4. Yes, let's take a lead from the Dixie Chicks?
I'm not ready to make nice!

Yes, attack STRONG and without regret. Figuratively, NO MERCY - if we wish for our Democratic Republic back.

We need the TRUE Leaders of The Democratic Party to say, "Lead, follow or get the hell out of our way. We are going to WIN in 06!" :-) :applause:

7. Rangel is One Dog That Needs to be Muzzled
Even hinting that we might bring back the draft could lose us 50 seats in the House.

14. Rangel is great!
Hinting that there might be a draft brought out a lot of young voters in 2004!
And they all voted Dem!
I can't believe anyone on DU would say he should be "muzzled",
have you ever seen him on the talk shows?

21. Saying There Might Be One is One Thing. PROPOSING One Is Another!
Edited on Wed May-31-06 12:57 AM by AndyTiedye
If you want to accuse the Republicans of secretly planning a draft, DO IT!
There is a fair amount of evidence, circumstantial and otherwise, to support the claim,
certainly enough to meet the standards of 21st century politics.

You are right that that rumor really did work for us.
Bush**'s polls were in a nosedive and he was freaking out
desperatly denying that they intended to have a draft.

A BILL SPONSORED BY A DEMOCRAT MAKES OUR PARTY THE BAD GUY.
The Repubs in Congress actually brought the thing to a vote at one point
(nobody voted for it, not even Rangel) just to try to defuse all that.
If it hadn't been for Rangel's bill, we could have gotten a lot more mileage
out of the draft rumors.

5. This whole Jefferson thing is part of that deal as well...
Think about it....

Here we a Democrat caught with, shall we say, frozen assets....

And the GOP comes to his rescue....

Bush delays the process by 45 days...

All this does is keep this guy in the news...

It might be the last scandal standing looses...

10. In this whole thread, I didn't see a single ideal or example of something
concrete that any of us can do.

The alarm is raised - - along with my heart rate and blood pressure - - and several posters call on our leaders to do something or other.

I think we may have gotten into this situation by just that - - expecting our leaders to take all the action.

I realize they'll be the ones who will make the speeches and cast the votes, but I really don't think anything will happen until WE make it happen.

Letters to the Editor, Grocery Cart "Blogging", talking to neighbors, letters and phone calls to Congress are all things we need to do today.

Wringing our hands and wanting our party leaders to take action and wanting others to get lost is just wishful thinking.

11. We need to make sure that enough DEMS vote
so that every election is a landslide.

We have to beat the machines.

16. Unfortunately, won't happen.
Amazing how many doors I knocked on and the Dems said they're not even REGISTERED and had no desire to do so!

Not gonna happen in my lifetime - unless somebody gets booted off a reality show they like!

Sheeple.

Pure and simple.

12. Watch this video
Truly great video on google video
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=737458579297833...

Robert Newman's History of Oil. Extremely funny, while providing an amazing history of oil, the middle east and basis for British/American involvement in the Middle East. At the end of the video Mr. Newman explains why we get nothing done!

Btw, it's a great video.

Peace!

13. I will be out there working very hard...I am saving my vacation time
to be used right before the elections, getting out the vote...etc.

I guess I should have said so in my original post, should have included a call to action...But, yes, unless and until we the people go out and work HARD, we won't win...

20. Leaders have to know we're "wise" to it
They have to know WE aren't buying into the Rove strategy of brandishing all politicians as equally corrupt. If they don't know that we've got their backs, then it makes it all the more difficult for them to fight the onslaught. We definitely need to be calling them right away.

17. Gore is a great attack dog as I just heard him on NPR spreading
the truth about EXXON and others. I don't know why someone with big money in Hollywood or elsewhere doesn't set up a progressive TV channel with 24/7 viewing. what is wrong with these people - we need some people telling the truth and giving immediate responses to these LIARS!

18. Yes and what is telling is the headlines they are coming up with
I flipped to MSNBC.com earlier and it had 3 headlines about these stories with crafty wording. Like subliminally negative.

19. "They're all the same"
That's the strategy for the year. Not buying in is what we need to do to win. But based on your conclusion that we should abandon perfectly good Dems, I see the same left that always falls for their traps is going to fall again.

22. Well it's alot easier to win
when you have the corporate news-media and a massive right-wing media infrastrucure on your side.

As well, Dems just aren't as good at hard-ball politics.

They show up to a fight w/ a pair of boxing gloves while republicans come with a pair of brass knuckles.
