I understand now how the military brass and Rummy intend

They're just going to kill every man, woman, and child over there.

1. That is the classic military tactic.

Kill people until they are a broken, passive people. If that doesn't work, kill more people until they are finally a broken, passive people.

Everything else is just smoke and mirrors designed to make this tactic look pretty.

There is no other way to take the Caspian Basin except by murdering the native population.

The problem with this plan (brilliant as Cheney and Rummy may feel it to be) is that oil-interested nations such as Russia, China, the EU, and India have a natural interest in that area as well. They will simply wait until we have killed a hefty amount of people, then unite and ride in on white horses as the saviors of those poor victimized people. Then THEY, as the good guys who defeated the cruel Americans, will take over the oil.

We are, basically, patsies. We haven't a prayer in hell of holding that area against China which has not been wasting its resources on a pointless, worthless, vanity war.

Guess Rummy looks at things differently than others do. Kill em off, and there ya go...instant liberation. They should be standing trial for war crimes instead of laying around Washington wasting the taxpayers money on a war for oil.
