Bush Cuts New York And New Orleans To Steer Money To Jeb

“It’s absolutely indefensible, it’s disgraceful. As far as I’m concerned the Department of Homeland Security and the administration have declared war on New York. It’s a knife in the back to New York and I’m going to do everything I can to make them very sorry they made this decision.”-- House GOP Rep. Peter King, today

~snip~

There is one thing the Bush Administration has been very successful at lately: pissing off House GOP committee chairmen, in an election year. Last week, apparently without telling Bush, Abu Gonzales raided the office of Democratic representative William Jefferson and pissed off both Denny Hastert and House Judiciary Committee chairman James Sensenbrenner, who promptly called hearings on the matter yesterday and has now pledged to drag Abu and FBI Director Robert Mueller to a hearing to explain themselves.

Then things got better today. The Department of Homeland Security lit up House Homeland Security Committee chairman Peter King when a new formula for grants was released today. The new formula resulted in millions of dollars in cuts to New York and Washington, as well as New Orleans. King, who fought the administration on the Dubai Ports World deal, and now sees the White House reduce his ability to deliver the bacon to his state, went off.

While the Bush Administration cut New Orleans’ funding by half, Brother Jeb nearly doubled his take. New York State was cut by $86.5 million alone.

I guess with all those tax cuts for the wealthy, we don't have the money for New Orleans and homeland security, huh?

1.  NYC and NO don't deserve this, but Peter King sure does.
See how much loyalty means to this bunch, Pete? Aren't you glad you've been supporting them? Aren't you happy to be a Republican? Aren't you aware that you had this coming?

We sure are.

4. Figures....
NY was always pretty blue, and the Katrina fuckup didn't seem to work at turning NOLA red. So gotta feed the base in Jeb-land, I suppose.

However, after trying to screw the elders on SS, and succeeding in screwing them with Medicare 'reform' does he think he can keep Florida, too?

5. I'm sure you all remember what Peter King said about counting the votes?
Something like, "The election is over, except for counting the votes, and we'll take care of counting the votes."

That's on video somewhere.... That was on election day. Remember? I guess maybe he's changed his mind? Or, no, maybe he's just acting like he cares about New York? Hmm, what could it be?
