frustration and anger with the DRehm Friday news round-up
She had a man from WP (?), one from WashTimes, and a woman from LA Times.

On the bank data use by the feds: all 3 seemed to think that this is just fine and dandy b/c we're fighting terrorists. The man from the Moonie Times thought it was wrong to let the public know about this.

Side comment 1: Rehm and others on NPR often have representatives of the Moonie Times as guests but NEVER say that the Times is owned by the Rev Moon empire.

2: Rehm 'politely' bawled out a caller who said the man from the Wash Times owed decent Americans an apology for justifying an 'anything goes' policy of the American military in Iraq. He made the comments regarding the arrest of soldiers for killing an Iraqi. Rehm gave him extra time to 'defend himself.'

An email from a mother of a soldier soon to go to Iraq said that her son's group was told the military did not have the $$ to supply them with certain basics, such as magazines for their rifles, etc, and that they should purchase them themselves; the military suggested they try purchasing some of the stuff at pawn shops. She said it would all cost ca $1000. She said he was paid about $1200 a month and that she and her husband were buying the supplies. She wondered what soldiers who did not have family who could help were supposed to do.

The Wash Times reporter said he had just heard about this. I don't know if he meant just this instance or that many soldiers and families for some time have been buying needed equipment. He gave me the impression this was the first time he'd heard anything about equipment lacks; he was a major defender of anything the Bush administration said or claimed.

I tried several times to get in but either there was no answer or the line was busy. I wanted to say that their unquestioning acceptance of the administration's claims about the bank data was major evidence of what is wrong with the US media.

It was a maddening and frustrating hour. I couldn't even face her next hour's interview with Sandra Day O'Connor and her fears about the US judiciary-----SHE HELPED CREATED THIS ON 12-12-2000.

1. Want to know what's wrong with the US media
For the most part they are all nothing but corporate whores, look at who owns networks like NBC, CBS, and ABC, CNN is owned by TimeWarner.

The whores are being paid by their masters who walk hand in hand with the Bush administration!!!!
