An encounter the other day; I spoke with a businessman who kept a
reminder of being conned into paying 5+ times the value of an object that he could have acquired on the internet . . . ($11 item, got it for a "steal" for $64) . . . kept it on his desk as a reminder not to be fooled again . . .

Then looking into his office, I realized that this might have been the reason he had the portraits of Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush on the wall . . .

1. Heh, nice benefit of the doubt.
Unfortunately, a lot of "businessmen" don't know what's good for society. I put the word in quotations because some of their colleagues act more like robber barons.

3. We have GOP businessmen/women backing our Colorado Dem governor candidate.

I kid you not. The other guy "Both Ways BOB" Beauprez, went waaaayyy to far to the right on tax cuts, and has even voted against Colorado interests in Congress in his sycophantic kiss up to the national GOP. He was against a vital measure that restored some money for infrastructure and education to the Colorado budget. Now he is for a measure that would overturn the new budget while returning a few dollars to most Coloradans.

The old style Republican businessmen here are beginning to get nervous at this kill the government mantra coming from Norquist clones. It's bad for business in the long run, and they are beginning to see the end of the run, and it's not pretty.

Democratic candidates need to understand this and reach out like our Bill Ritter is. Many businessmen know that their best interests also lie with an educated, healthy and prosperous middle class. Some of them are realizing on their own that they have hoodwinked and suckered into supporting policies that undermine their long term viability.

Here's a link to what our "Both Ways Bob" is all about. He's in up to his ears in Tom Delay, and is on record saying he cares more about the Republican Party than he does for what is good for Colorado.

and I wouldn't care to add the surcharges to our bill . . .

Edited to add:

'sides, Mrs. ZBDent gets a little peeved if I get political in public . . . especially when we're not sure of the designation of the person we're dealing with, and when we have a stake in the matter ($$$, friendship, etc. . . .)

5. It's actually a good metaphor for this entire uninformed electorate...
For the most part, they thought Bush was a good deal, too.

6. Ya, but you can let them know that you are a lib
in a discreet way, so that he will know that he has friends who lean left. He didn't have a problem letting his clients know who he admires. Just happen to bring up Gore's new movie or something.
