Poll question: If Ned whips Joe in the August primary . . . |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-06-06 09:04 PM by Old Crusoe
will Lieberman concede & quit or stay in and run as an independent?
------------
If Ned Lamont handily wins the Connecticut Democratic primary for U.S. Senate in August, what do you think will happen next?

1. John McCain will campaign for Holy Joe in the Fall |
|
GOP will accuse the Dems of being anti-Semites and intolerant of anything but the most extreme views. There will be one Osama video in which he praises Lamont as a fellow traveler. Every Rovian trick under the Sun will be used by the Lieberman campaign. Bibi Netayahu will appear in a photo op with Lieberman (two Losermen of the worst kind!).

2. I hope none of that comes to be, but a lot of it has a |

frighteningly plausible ring to it.
And this would be the same John McCain whose presidential ambitions were undercut by the same sort of skullduggery by Rove et al in 2000 in South Carolina....
Yuck.

6. You know, the sad part is that McCain is a sturdy enough guy to |
|
stand on his own two feet. and yet there he is kowtowing to Dubya at every turn for power and pwoer alone.
The talk in the media lately of a McCain-Jeb ticket is downright sickening.
They guy survived being in a damned cage in the jungle for 4 or 5 years and he's afraid of BUSH? I just feel he's wasting the last segment of his life.
It's none of my business of course, but I think John McCain has betrayed himself.

|
scary, eh? ... i know very little about Ct. politics but if i were the republican's big cheese, that's what i'd push for ...
Lieberman as an Indie with a republican endorsement versus Lamont in November ...

4. O god let's not let it happen. |
|
I think that Joe's done if the primary finds him too many percentage points behind Lamont.
If Lamont's surge is real and sustainable across July, I think he whips Lieberman by at least 5 percentage points.
If that happens I don't see Lieberman crawling out of so deep a hole.
But who knows. This is still a wild one in the Nutmeg State. I'm not laying too much money down on the barrel just yet.

8. Hi, Crunchy Frog. You know, I am starting to wonder if the |
|
cluelessness that seems to pervade Lieberman's career lately isn't a health matter.
Kidding about "cluelessnes" aside for a moment... I wonder if he just isn't aware of how disconnected he's getting to be?
Remember how he seemed to think he was going to win the New Hampshire primary in 04? It just didn't happen.

9. He's like a member of Brezhnev's Politburo. |
|
I don't think it's his health. He seems plenty on the ball mentally. I think he's just a putz with a massive ego and a huge sense of entitlement who isn't used to being challenged.

11. Well, that could be it. And that's almost worse for Joe. |

I could not tell after the New Hampshire primary if he honestly believed he would surge back to win the nomination or if he knew privately that it was all over and that he wasn't even in the top three choices overall.
And I think you're right on the ego part, too.
