(CNN) Bush: I'd rather be right than popular
You could be both, George.
But then you'd be Bill Clinton.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/07/06/bush.lkl/index.html

(Ironic part in bold.)

"When history looks back, I'd rather be judged as solving problems and being correct, rather than being popular," Bush said.

"The president that chases the opinion poll is the president that will have failed policy," Bush said in an exclusive joint interview along with his wife, Laura, at the White House.

Some members of Congress are nervous about the effect Bush's political problems might have on their own fortunes in this fall's midterm elections.

But Bush predicted that Republicans would keep their majorities in the House and Senate, "Because we're right on winning this war on terror, and we've got a good economic record," he said. "People are working under the leadership of the Bush administration and the Congress."

Wow.
Someone actually told Bush he was scraping the bottom, hah?
They're probably looking for a new job right now...

1. Screw him
He can't possibly be right when he was wrong from the very beginning. He stole his way into office. History will remember him as the wrong man for the wrong job at the wrong time.

5. He's neither.
Unfortunately, a large percentage of the US population seems to like misguided certainty over reflective thought.

7. That's an awfully assumptive thing to say
for someone who has been wrong on every issue

and unpopular because he's so very wrong.

Apparently, he's easily bored and he learned at a young age how to get attention... kick people and animals, break things, tell lies, etc.

15. he said he'd rather be right than popular?
he does not mean at least one of the statements in the phrase.

Yes. he wants to be right (that is a sign of his POWER AND CONTROL sickness. the man is a power and control freak (his father is too, and so is his brother, and babs too, let me not forget her).

he says he can forgoe popularity in the name of being right? i doubt it. this man with such a little ego, such low self-esteem ... he needs to be popular because he cannot handle rejection and he needs acceptance to operate in a half human way.

so there you go george, lying your ass out again on larry king.

18. It's a direct stab at Clinton
His premise is that Clinton used polls to make policy decisions and he doesn't. Bullshit...
Clinton used polls to determine what the majority of Americans wanted. Bush uses polls so he can fire up his base and further divide the country.

20. Reminds Me of a Song...
Hey, there's nothing in my art.
I'd rather be cool then be smart.
Hey, what I'm thinking of
I'd rather be cool then be loved.

{chorus}

Hey, I thought that you were tough.
Well, I've had it too, had it rough.
Hey, I don't care if I'm wrong,
'cause right always takes too long.

- "Cool as Kim Deal" (Courtney Taylor)

22. So, your failed policy re: North Korea nukes is because you were
chasing opinion polls? :sarcasm:

Also, YOU'RE A LYING SACK OF SHIT. I just read this article where you are traveling around to try and boost your pathetic poll numbers, you know, the ones you don't care about. :eyes:

Title of the article?

"Bush seeks to build standing with public"

Nice going, DUMBASS! :patriot:

24. Well, I hate to tell you, Chimpy, but you are neither! And your theory
that "The president that (sic) chases the opinion poll is the president that will have failed policy," has been proven incorrect. You don't 'chase' opinion polls and you still have a multitude of failed policies!

30. Ha - John Dean wrote,
Edited on Mon Jul-10-06 05:50 AM by tenshi816
in his book Worse Than Watergate that, despite their statements to the contrary, the Bush White House is absolutely obsessed with polls. I think of that every time Bush claims not to pay attention to polls.

Edited for typo
