*Bush** on Ken Lay: (From LK interview transcript)
KING: The death of Ken Lay.

G. BUSH: Yes, yes.

KING: I know he was your friend. How do you feel? Were you shocked?

G. BUSH: I was. I was really surprised. You know, my hope is that his heart was right with the Lord and I feel real sorry for his wife. She's had a rough go and she's now here on Earth to bear the burdens of losing her husband, a man she loved.

KING: Was that whole thing, the whole Enron story shocking to you?

G. BUSH: Yes, yes.

KING: Because, I mean, you knew him pretty well from Texas, right?

G. BUSH: Pretty well, pretty well, I knew him. I got to know him. People don't believe this, but he actually supported Ann Richards in the '94 campaign.

KING: She told me that.

G. BUSH: She did?

KING: She liked him a lot.

G. BUSH: Yes, he's a good guy. And so what I then did was we had a business council and I kept him on as the chairman of the business council and, you know, got to know him and got to see him in action. One of the things I respected him for was he was such a contributor to Houston's civil society. He was a generous person. I'm disappointed that he betrayed the trust of shareholders, but...

KING: Do you know him well, Mrs. Bush?

L. BUSH: Not really. Not really well.

KING: Did you know his wife?

L. BUSH: But I did know him. And I know Linda and I'm sorry for her.

KING: Do you have contact with her?

L. BUSH: I haven't.

G. BUSH: I haven't yet. I'm going to write her a letter at some point in time.

1. Wanna bet Lay was only supporting Richards as a covert action?
Like the way Torie Clarke was supporting McCain in 2000 - it was still in service to BushInc.

2. Aw...the li'l fucktard is gonna write her a letter sometime....
How much do you wanna bet he uses that wide-ruled paper with the dotted lines that we used in 2nd grade? On second thought, writing a letter might be too taxing for the little idiot. Maybe he should just get out his crayons and draw her a really nice picture. She could stick it up on her refrigerator. And then maybe he could draw pictures for all of the people whose lives Kenny Boy destroyed.

3. Bush didn't know Delay, Abramhoff, Cunningham, Lay, Noelle Bush...
Honestly. Ignore the photos and what others have said.

Bush knows absolutely no criminals.

7. Yer joshin', aren't ya?
Actually, I think it was Ed Schwartz I heard on the radio when the Abramoff story really broke, repeating "AbramHoff" endlessly...and it drove me nuts!

9. The one that really drives ME nuts is...
people who make plurals with an apostrophe-s. When I moved to the South it seemed rampant. (I remember a somewhat-major tourist destination that displayed huge, professionally made, and likely expensive banners advertising TOY'S and GIFT'S. I worked beside a marina that had a similar banner advertising DOCK BOX'S. And I've repeatedly seen want ads in the Atlanta Journal Constitution for -- this is the kicker -- TEACHER'S.) Perhaps condescendingly, I wrote it off as a Southern Thing, so I'm distressed that I see it so frequently at DU. The freakiest thing is that people often alternate between correct and incorrect pluralization even within a single sentence. Argh!

10. Bush is a liar. He got 7 times as much from Enron & Lay in the 1994 race
And Larry King is a whore for not asking Bush just how much HE received from old Kenny boy during the same race.

Austin, TX: President George W. Bush revised history yesterday when he said that Enron CEO Ken Lay "was a supporter of Ann Richards in my run in 1994." While Richards received $19,500 from Enron sources in that campaign, according to the Dallas Morning News, Bush received far more Lay and Enron money.
In fact, in an interview with PBS’s "Frontline" taped on March 27, 2001, Lay said, “When Governor Bush, now President Bush, decided to run for the governor’s spot, a little difficult situation. I’d worked very closely with Ann Richards also, the four years she was governor. But I was very close to George W. and had a lot of respect for him, had watched him over the years, particularly with reference to dealing with his father when his father was in the White House and some of the things he did to work for his father, and so did support him.”

Mr. Lay and Enron's PAC were early donors to Bush’s 1994 race, contributing $30,000 to Bush's gubernatorial committee as early as November 1993. All told, Enron's PAC and executives contributed $146,500 to Bush's first gubernatorial war chest in 1993 and 1994.

"President Bush's explanation of his relationship to Enron is at best a half truth,” said Craig McDonald, Director of Texans for Public Justice. “He was in bed with Enron before he ever held a political office."
