Is Clark campaigning in Michigan?
Just wondering, because it seems that Kerry is winning... and all the focus on Edwards seems a bit like "We want to be #2!"

2. No go in Michigan
Kerry's got it locked down and it happens on Saturday. Resources are best used elsewhere. Same probably holds true for Edwards.

4. This is definitely not true. I urge all to not give up on their
candidate's chances here. This is anybody's state yet. :hi: Let Democracy rule...

3. He and Sharpton and Dean will be at an NAACP Town Hall Meeting
tomorrow. I think the other candidates better get their acts together if they want to win Michigan. :hi:

keep my eye out and let you know if that changes.

6. Clark considers
Tennessee to be the top priority right now.

I know the grass roots operation in Michigan are hard at work and our troops are invading Michigan.

So, I'd say he's competing in MI, but may not campaign there. He's been to Michigan in the past. I hope he goes back this week.

about two weeks ago or so Wes Jr. was here.

Support for Kerry wide in Michigan and about 1/4" deep.

12. Is Michigan a primary or a caucus state?
I grew up in Michigan, but never lived there when I was at voting age. I'd like to call all my family members, but I think some are less likely to participate in a caucus than primary.

Tell them to call me and I will direct them to their caucus site and drive them if need be. :hi:

15. where in Michigan are you?
My family are in the Lansing region, some in Saginaw. I really hope they participate. I will call and encourage. But I think they may not know how it works (no one ever participated in a caucus when I was growing up). Can they just show up? Do they have to register first, or be registered Dems?

up at the door. They do not need to be a registered Democrat. The form has a place to check off for strong Democrat or leaning Democrat, they check their choice, sign and that's it. It is an open ballot. Tell them to contact their local county Democratic Party. I can find it online if you need me too. When they call, they can give them their zip code and someone will give them their caucus site. Most are in VFW and UAW halls or the like. Ours is a city golf course believe it or not. Let me know anything I can do to make it smoother for them. :hi:

20. Thanks Mrs. Grumpy
I will contact them. I think my grandparents are big Clark fans, so there will probably be at least two Clark votes in the bunch. My dad and his wife were leaning Kerry way back in the fall, I don't know if they still are. My brother and his wife are Kucinich supporters, last I heard. The feat will be getting my mother to support someone--she's a religious right person but is convinced Bush is the anti-Christ (seriously) and won't vote for a Catholic... So who does that leave? IS Clark Protestant?

21. Clark and Dean are not Catholic. So she has options.. I sent you
a PM with the link for finding their caucus. You can enter their name and zip in and find their site for them.

Tell them MrsGrumpy begs them to go to..whoever they vote for. I want strong numbers in Michigan to show that we "count too" :hi:

As will my sister, her boyfriend, and about five people from work who I have convinced to exercise their civic duty to pick the best guy to oust Bush.

22. If Mrs.Grumpy can't help b/c of the distance
Try emailing DSkinner on the Clark site:
http://michigan.forclark.com/story/2004/2/3/104044/0248

He's in Lansing and a huge supporter. Sure he'd be glad to help any and all people caucus for Clark.

If the mail in that post doesn't work, try dskinner@forclark.com

Good luck!

18. Michigan's "caucus" may not be at all like Iowa's...
so I adise you to check out the reason for that particular terminology. New Mexico's Dem primary was a "caucus" too, simply because it WAS a Dem primary, i.e. sponsored by the NM Dem party rather than the state.

23. It's not like Iowa
There is no big meeting, 15% rule, or any of that. It is just an election that is run by the party rather than the state.

24. Remember '88
Anyone who is thinking they might as well stay home because they think their candidate isn't going to do well might want to remember the Michigan caucus in 1988.

Everyone assumed that Dukakis had an easy victory locked up, but Jesse Jackson pulled off an upset.
