Lieberman ad has a fake Lamont bumpersticker. Video of ad and picture.
Here's the picture of the real and not real.

Here's the scoop from the Lamont blog.

http://lamontblog.blogspot.com/2006/07/fakin-it.html
"And it's not like this fake sticker is meant as a joke, or is tangential to the charges in the ad itself. No, the ad - which was played to a national audience in its entirety on the C-SPAN feed of Thursday's debate - centers its charges almost entirely around this entirely fictitious bumper sticker. Watch the video on YouTube (via Spazeboy).

Again. The Lieberman campaign hired someone to create an immaculate fake of a Ned Lamont bumper sticker, in an obvious attempt to deceive voters. They even put a fake URL on it to make it look official. They then produced an attack ad whose charges were based on this fake bumper sticker. And they've been running the ad like crazy ever since. (Although, tellingly, it's not up on Joe's website)."

Here's the Lieberman ad at YouTube:

6. This is more about that domain.
From Liberal Oasis (LO) via Kos:

"The folks at LO have done some sleuthing, and discovered that the site is just a placeholder, and that the domain name was purchased in 2004 by Highground, Inc., a Republican political consulting firm in Arizona. It was apparently set up in a campaign against Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio."

25. I noted that, too... and, as much as I do not like Joe,
it makes me sad to see him and his campaign stooping this low.

It used to be only Republicans were this scruple-less.

3. Actually, if I lived in Ct. I'd put one of the No More Joe stickers on my
car! I think this was a stupid move on Joe's part. All it says is Ned wants Joe out. What's wrong with that?

9. Now the "official" Lamont blog is covering it.
This is a shame really. I was reading some other blogs earlier, and it appears to be bringing out the really true deep anger that the Democrats in power have toward those who want a voice in what is going on. I never have seen anything like it. It is making me sad.

I was never against Joe Lieberman that much, but this is not playing out well.

http://nedlamont.com/blog/538/filling-the-air-with-outright-lies

"Filling the Air With Outright Lies
In the debates, through Marion Seinfeld (aka the last comic standing), and now using his millions in corporate lobbyists/political action committee funds to flood the airwaves, Joe Lieberman is just outright lying in a desperate attempt to save his political power. Here’s the problem with this particular one: Since Senator Lieberman has such a poor record to stand on in a Democratic primary, he tries argue our campaign is only about “not being joe.” He has every right to make that claim, as erroneous as it is. But his latest ad is quite representative of how accurate the charge is—completely fabricated. Liberal Oasis uncovers the story.

...."Problem is… we have never created such a bumper sticker. That means they literally paid for designers to “replicate” our branding, creating a bumper sticker to deceive the people of CT that such an advertising tool exists. It doesn’t. Liberal Oasis goes on:

A search of the WHOIS database finds that the domain name was purchased not around the time Ned Lamont was considering a campaign, but in August 2004, by Paul Bentz of Highground, Inc. Highground is a Republican political consulting firm in Arizona."

11. Reminds me of the Dem. 2004 primaries for president
The powerful in Washington made the decision for us, in my opinion. It was all over but the shouting after Iowa and New Hampshire.

15. I think you are right.
I think it may have been made for 08 and beyond. We won't know, really, so we have to be on guard.

That is why I am a pincushion here sometimes because I so strongly believe that what Dean is doing in rebuilding the party with small donors is far far more important than we realize. I think if we don't build another financial power base like that the decision will be theirs for decades.

10. So what?
What's the big deal?

He never made any sort of claim that the bumper sticker in his commercial was THE Lamont camp. bumper sticker.

This seems like a non-scandal to me.

18. You Can't Spell "Lieberman" Without "Lie"

The notion in this thread that that ad doesn't "say" it is a Lamont bumpersticker is beside the point. The ad suggests that it is a Lamont bumpersticker, and is a lie.

For someone who parades his alleged religious values on his sleeve like Lieberman, his approval of this ad just shows he is another self-righteous hypocritical POS.

After announcing that we should support the idiot boy-king, hearing him use GOP buzz-phrases and talking points during the debate, and now these cheezy election tactics ... I am now convinced and stand corrected.

26. Taking his toys and going home.
After a deceptive ad like that Lieberman has filed to run as something else, not sure what. He will call his party Connecticut for Lieberman.

http://www.newsday.com/news/local/wire/connecticut/ny-bc-ct--senate-connecticu0710jul10,0,4216153,print.story

HARTFORD, Conn. -- "Democratic U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman filed paperwork Monday that will allow him to collect signatures to petition his way onto the November ballot if he loses an August primary.

Lieberman's campaign announced the move in an e-mail to reporters.

The three-term senator faces a tough Aug. 8 primary challenge from Greenwich businessman Ned Lamont. Lieberman, who has been criticized by fellow Democrats for his support of the war in Iraq and a perceived closeness with President Bush, is popular among many unaffiliated and Republican voters in Connecticut.

Lieberman also filed papers with the secretary of the state's office Monday to create a new party called Connecticut for Lieberman."
