Proud to be a Democrat in AZ! (DUers should take notice)
Yesterday I was at the polls all day with my Edwards signs, stickers and info. We also had a few Dean, DK and Kerry supporters there. There were a few politicians and local campaign workers there gathering signatures for various petitions too. Though we all supported different candidates we all got along really well with each other. Throughout the day we shared campaign stories, personal tales, jokes, food, ideas, etc., etc.

All of us helped each other in one way or another, whether it was holding someone's clipboard, sharing an umbrella/tent when the showers came or getting voters to sign the various petitions that were going around. While I was busy talking to a voter, a Dean volunteer helped a young girl put on a John Edwards sticker I had given her. I myself answered a few questions about Clark (in a positive way) for voters that wanted information on him since there were no Clark volunteers there. Another Dean supporter was helping a Kerry volunteer put up a yard sign. The list of examples are endless.

It's kind of funny - one of the local stations newscaster was so surprised by the friendliness of the rival campaigns volunteers that they interviewed us and did a long story on it for the nightly news. The piece came out really nice.

The congeniality extended to the voters as well. Everyone was upbeat and friendly with each other and the campaign volunteers. We all were mingling and sharing jokes. People were asking about volunteering for the Democratic party, registering their family and friends for November, etc.

I think at the end of the day we were all wishing that those working for the other campaigns had chosen to work for our own instead :-)

The only loser on the day was *! The energy and voter turnout was very high. His days are numbered as AZ will go Democratic in November.

2. Awesome.
I am so looking forward to our primary here in Wisconsin.

I hope things go was well as they did in Arizona.

So nice to hear about the story that was done.

Not all media are focused on the everlasting negatives I guess.

Now if we could get the national media involved..

To bad there were no Clark volunteers though.

That disturbed me alot.

Of well, he did OK yesterday.

Cannot be everyplace at once.

5. Seldona don't worry
Other than Dean and DK, none of the campaigns here in Tucson had a hardcore volunteer group. I think only 5 out of the 25 or so very active Edwards volunteers we have in Tucson were outside of polling places. A top Kerry volunteer told me that despite his strong showing here there were very few hardcore supporters that would stay outside the polls all day long.

I think it basically confirms what many of us know - DK and Dean are the only ones with a very rabid fan base. The other campaigns are much more bandwagon (I don't mean that in a negative way) - just that the supporters are not as willing to dedicate themselves to the cause.

8. Eh? I was on the AZ Clark campaign as a volunteer, we had #'s
In fact in the end we probably campaigned too well because people became sick of seeing us (canvassing), sick of the literature we handed/ mailed out and were annoyed by us calling them 5 times a week. So, yeah, I disagree, there are plenty of die hard Clark volunteers out there.

BUT....As a Clark supporter from AZ, where Clark was ahead at 39%, Dean at 32% and Kerry at 3%, up until Iowa, I now know the bitter taste of Bandwagon syndrome and it bites. I sympathize with the Dean and Kucinich people a lot more now and identify with the frustration of hearing your candidate be dismissed as "unelectable". :puke: I hate that term! Especially when its used by people who tuned into the election only 2 weeks ago.

10. After deserting Washington!

If the repugs overrun the state this year, it'll be all your fault, Zomby!

We're doing our best to hold them at bay, but we're down one whole voter.
