"Ned Lamont Has a Messy Desk"

Looking for a Monday chuckle? Check out this new ad for the Ned Lamont Senatorial campaign designed to get Joe Lieberman's camp to focus on the issues.

"But since a national television audience doesn’t stop his campaign from distortions, half-truths and outright lies, why should anyone expect him to keep it honest while running millions of dollars worth of attack ads in Connecticut?" says the Lamont web site, referring to some on the fibs told by Lieberman in last week's debate and the nasty ads they've been running. "Since Senator Lieberman said he 'works hard' for those contributions, we’ve created our own attack ad … one that goes after Ned. Hopefully that will ease the burden created while tending to the corporate interests and political action committees filling his campaign coffers."

Check out "Ned Lamont Has a Messy Desk."

There was no Jews in the ad. Come on ,remember that Democrats are a bunch of Anti-Semite biotches. I can't believe no one is voting for Lieberman cause he is Jewish :sarcasm:

64. I know someone who is
she's a very lovely (Jewish) woman, and I had a long discussion with her Saturday night.

She's against the war. I told her about Joe's comment about rape victims taking a cab to another hospital. I discussed Health Care.

She hates Bush, and I said that Joe is Bush's favorite Republican.

I mentioned several other things, and she agrees with me about all of the above, but she's still voting for Joe, because he's Jewish.

30. I'm still waiting
In in East Haven and am still waiting for my sign. I want to get it on the lawn as soon as possible. There are already a few in my neighborhood, which is a pretty working class Democrat area if ever there was one. Joe shouldn't have forgotten who he was representing. And as far as Lamont's wealth goes, there's nothing that says rich people have to be pricks. Look at FDR. He was godlike in my books. And what about those old style Rockefeller Republicans. What ever happened to those guys? Man, have politics ever lurched to the right.

32. Is selling out inevitable?
Is there something about service in the Senate that just warps a person's better judgment? I'd like to believe that it's possible to maintain integrity and have a long career in politics, but for every success story, there's a whole bunch of failures. Perhaps Ned's old old money is actually a good thing. Keep him from getting star struck, you know?

36. The Agency
Bill Hillsman and North Woods, right? If this is true, and it appears to be, I doubt that Lamont could have chosen more wisely. These guys make some awesome and award-winning ads, and have made them for some real tough battles. The Nader ads, the Ventura ads. It's always best to hire people who can get the job done. Although as a permanent resident I cannot vote, I'll do as much as I can.

58. I enjoyed this spot, BUT
it reminded me of the clever Dukakis ads of 1988 that tickled the tummies of us urban sophisticates. . . . showing the nervous frustration of the Bush campaign sharpies as they ruefully went over Mike D's invincible political program. I knew some pretty bright people at the time who did not even realize that those spots had anything to do with politics, let alone the presidential election.

It is hard to bet against conventional wisdom sometimes, and satire is what closes out of town according to well established show bidness doctrine. Granted, this spot is pretty damned hard not to "get" -- but it is really amazing to discover how many people just get confused by comedy.

On the plus side, it is a Democratic primary electorate we're dealing with in a state with a lot urban sophisticates running around in it. We probably don't have to worry about losing the "why-is-a-man-making-coffee?" vote.

I'm cheering from the opposite coast, regardless. Go Lamont!!!

62. I think this ad is EXACTLY what all Dems should be doing
Let the Repubs be mean spirited and obnoxious. People respond to humor in a BIG way, and ads like this are going to really make people remember Ned Lamont. Seriously - so many people call Karl Rove a genius, but his hate filled, puny, neo-con mind will not know how to respond to humor. Look at shows like The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. Shows like that are what people are responding to now. Not the negative ads that are so prevelant in today's political campaigns.

Bravo to Ned Lamont and whoever came up with this idea. This is sheer genius, and I'll bet he rises in the polls because of it.

74. This is the perfect tact to take.
In fact, this is a tact that should be taken all the way to the next presidential election. Campaign commercials a la Daily Show would be the most effective way of making the Republicans look like the mess they are and leave a positive impression of Democrats.

Bravo, Ned!

75. I went to a Lamont fundraiser Sunday & Ned was FANTASTIC!! I told him
he needs another debate to try to relate to the audience the way he spoke to the us on the hostess' patio. His main themes:

Getting out of war in Iraq and getting off the oil addiction by way of alternative fuels and renewable resource technologies. Invoked Jimmy Carter wearing a sweater in the WH and turning down the thermostat: "The moral equivalent of war." Clearly, Ned understands the relationship between spending $250 million/day on this war and the falling apart infrastructure of our cities and towns, needs of schools that aren't being met and other issues related to no money for domestic needs.

Relatedly, the environment. Lamont is a true conservationist who understands the need to conserve and protect the planet on so many levels: protecting natural resources, getting off oil and stopping the oil wars, leaving a better planet for our children.

Education: Ned volunteers one day/wk. in a Bridgeport, CT school and understands the issues faced by public schools and teachers. Says there is an 85% turnover of students in this school and that's not unusual as the kids are from immigrant families and very poor. Ned also has a good grasp on poverty issues; talked about parents who are not home when the kids are off school because parents are working 2 jobs. Wants to have after school and prevention programs.

I was totally assured that Ned is the best candidate for the job after meeting and hearing him on Sunday. The fundraiser was put on by a former Yale classmate who said that even as far back as Yale days, Ned was always reading and on top of the current issues.

I remember being in that position and part of the job was to make sure the executive desk was nice and neat -

78. New Lieberman Campaign Material Claims
that he has been endorsed by Barbara Boxer, Maria Cantwell, Hillary Clinton, Dianne Feinstein, Mary Landrieu, Blanche Lincoln, Barbara Mikulski, Patty Murray and Debbie Stabenow. The exact wording is: "the choice of every Democratic woman in the US senate for his dedication to these issues that affect all our families."

I didn't think that this, strictly speaking, was true.

79. Lieberman does not have the support of CT Women's Rights Leaders
and NOW PAC endorsed Ned Lamont. Local women know Lieberman is insensitive to women's rights.

80. That's a LIE.
They didn't endorse him. They said they'd campaign for him.

Why am I not surprised he lied again?

82. Well it doesn't say endorse in that many words
It says "the choice of every Democratic woman in the US Senate for his dedication to the issues that affect our families". It's a technicality, because it sure reads like an endorsement.
