Lieberman HAS filed today to gather signatures
Lieberman campaign files forms to run as petitioning candidate

July 10, 2006, 6:34 PM EDT

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Democratic U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman filed paperwork Monday that will allow him to collect signatures to petition his way onto the November ballot if he loses an August primary.

The three-term senator faces a tough Aug. 8 primary challenge from Greenwich businessman Ned Lamont. Lieberman, who has been criticized by fellow Democrats for his support of the war in Iraq and a perceived closeness with President Bush, is popular among many unaffiliated and Republican voters in Connecticut.

Lieberman also filed papers with the secretary of the state's office Monday to create a new party called Connecticut for Lieberman.

Marion Steinfels, Lieberman's campaign spokeswoman, said the 25 people who signed on to help Lieberman form the Connecticut for Lieberman party will oversee the petition drive.

5. I think that you've got that backwards
Nader saw that the Democrat Party had become seriously detached from its core values--he might not say that explicitly, but that's what his support tapped into. Really, sure Bush is the absolute incarnation of the banality of evil, but Gore/Lieberman and Kerry/Edwards were really weak choices. It's about time that the party got more in tune with its grass roots. Really, Edwards? Lieberman? What were people thinking? I would have voted for Nader rather than vote for someone who didn't even come close to representing my values. If the Democrats had to lose a couple of elections (it should *not* have been close enough for the Repukes to steal, it should have been a blow out, like what happened to the British and Canadian conservative parties back in the day, an utter collapse and defeat), well, if the Democrats have to lose a few elections to get back on track, well, that's what has to happen.

7. Dont transfer Joe's behavior on to Kerry & Edwards.
If you like Nader so much, send him a damn love letter.

This has nothing to do with Kerry/Edwards or Al Gore in the now.

Nader & now Holy Joe are working to split DEM votes- I dont care how much you want to blame Kerry, etc.
