Help Me Clean Up My Bookmarks |
|
Edited on Tue Jul-11-06 06:51 AM by Bark Bark Bark
Which sort of blog better serves me?
--The blog that does deep research, posts original articles, and seeks to "grow" a positive liberal/Dem philosophy, such as Orcinus? Or at least cuts through the neoconservative crap with humor, like James Wolcott?
or
--The blog that posts links, lost amongst one-liner snarks and personal photos of flowers, pets, and celebrity schmoozing; that alternately praises and condemns any and all politicians as if this was all some inconsequential game populated by nothing but losers; that picks pissant squabbles with fellow bloggers; and encourages psychophants who think "FRIST!" is a comment worthy of endlessly posting, while yipping about their "A-list" status to anyone who complains?
Seriously, tell me which ones I should keep.

I keep trying to organize everything onto subfolders of folders and drawing narrower and narrower categories. What I read usually depends on my mood. DU is my one constant and has been since the very beginning.

--Apparently, some people thought this was an attack on DU. It saddens me to have to point out that this is incorrect. I DO understand the difference between a blog and a message board; because DUers visit a sea of blogs every day, it seemed the right place to ask.
--Some respondents recognized it as a rhetorical question, and as critical of their favorite Frist-holes. Instead of considering the positive and negative aspects of the blogs at large, and demanding better, they aggressively defended the grot. Also sad.
--Exactly as expected, someone thought posting "FRIST!" as a reply would be the height of (half-)wit. (What was UNexpected was that the reply would be playing "Beavis" to someone else's "Butt-Head.") --Exactly as expected, someone thought "psychophants" was a mistake, and that laughing at it would be the height of (half-)wit. --Not surprising, as a highlighted DU article points out that 29% of the population suffers from near-subhuman intelligence. (That explains the popularity of animated emoticons.)
--So far, I see many smartasses who aren't nearly as smart as they fancy themselves to be; few people with genuine responses; only one that comes close to answering the "either-or" question, rhetorical as it may be.
--What I was really hoping for were suggestions of better blogs, such as the examples I gave (which most replies so far have pointedly ignored in the stampede to get their licks in). Perhaps that was expecting too much.

I'm not sure why you became so overwhelmed to had to post TWO responses with no other purpose than childish insults, but please--tell me how my first post constitutes "pissing all over."
(Ah, that article says 23%, not 29%. My bad.)
