Some by gawd hard working merkun called up and let the whole world know that conservatives earn every by gawd thing they have. They are the salt of the earth. They certainly have earned the title of chickenshit chickenhawks and the scorn heaped upon them by the other part of the population, you know the part with an education.

15. I call BS on that one. Pure BS they "earn" everything.

While in college, I had a friend whose dad had tons of money. He and his dad made up a scheme where the friend claimed only his mom's income (divorced parents) so he was able to get foodstamps and financial aid.

A co-worker bought a house with her sister, who was laid off shortly thereafter. Parents had money, paid the house off, my friend paid the monthly housenote by depositing it her own bank account. Sister received unemployment compensation and WIC (sp). Oh yes, and they purposely flooded their house to get insurance money.

Both examples, of which I could describe several more, are hardcore Republicans.

The only example of a Dem who got government assistance that I know of was my mom, who got help after my dad took off, leaving her with 3 kids and no income. She worked part-time at A&W, took classes at night and got a job.

I mean the guy sounded all sincere, and christian and american. I swear I could see the tattoo of the American Flag on his chest. I guess I'm a loafer. I did 24 years in uniform and got me some education thanks to the GI Bill. Surely I did not earn that.

And yes, you without a doubt EARNED your education. And I'd dare say simply being in the military was education itself.

because they seem to move away from the whole personal responsiblity thing when things go wrong (such as ... oh, I don't know... the last 5+ years).

I've always wondered how they reconcile that.

Years ago, I told my aunt - who has been in AA for many years - to give equal credit because she was always praising God for the good things in her life and blaming herself for the bad.

To me the GOP is the opposite: they claim credit for everything good and dodge the blame for the bad.
