If only there were some system where the first born son of the ruler inherited his father's authority upon death.

16. She could tell it like it is.
She's genuine. That's a great quality sorely lacking in career politicians.

She'd never win. I'd just like her to run and influence the debate.

12. She can't, but why would it be so "awesome"?
Say what you will about Hillary but she is probably more qualified to be president than lots of people--her experience as First Lady was incredible as she saw the presidency up front and was a key advisor to President Clinton and then the past six years as a US Sentator. Perhaps Mrs. Kerry could run for the Senate in PA when Spector is up again?

17. I just really like her moxy
I think she has real passion and she's not afraid to say what she thinks.

I think voters are tired of robotic automatrons. She'd really make the debates fun.

As for Hillary. I've had enuf of Clintonian centrism. She'd be a boon for corporate America but I think she'll do what her husband did. Take a dive on a liberal policy push and then use it as cover to move to party farther to the right.

Hillarycare was a joke. That alone should disqualify her. I could go on but I doubt I can break thru the cult of personality.

Edited on Wed Jul-12-06 11:08 AM by karynnj
able to make a Senate debate due to bad weather precluding flying in. She was supposedly excellent. She is brilliant and was great explaining her current husband's positions as well. The media really mistreated her in 2004 - looking back at articles on Heinz, she was always described as smart and beautiful - a real asset.

19. I agree with this sentiment
even as a THK fan, I cant say she is qualified in the same ways HRC is. I mean, HRC was very much involved in the operations and decisions of the clinton white house and has spent six years as a US senator. Despite my disagreement with her on the war, i think she has been as good a freshman senator as we have had in a long time.

However, I dont think anybody would be speaking of Hillary for President if she was not Clinton's wife but just a one term senator with her record. Is anybody speaking of Cantwell as President?

20. Just saw some sort of "Rich and Famous" show on VH1
John & Theres paid $15 million to move a house from England to Sun Valley Idaho, where they say they visit less than 4 days a year. I wonder how many homeless people that would feed?

Same with Bruce Willis, Jack Nicholson, Johnny Depp and dozens of other celebs (Willis bought an entire town). And Sun Valley was just one of the many places they have additional homes.

These celebrities claim to be behind liberal causes like healthcare, education, minimum wage, Katrina, homelessness, poverty in general, yet they squander hundreds of millions of dollars on needless luxuries. I don't mind if they live a nice, comfortable life, but this way-over-the-top frivolous waste in light of the huge amount of genuine need that exists in the world is unforgivable.

21. Obviously, to be a good liberal you have to be dirt poor and downtrodden.
Only republicans can be rich.

Edited on Wed Jul-12-06 02:27 PM by iconoclastNYC
Republican's cut thier taxes; Republican can't even pretend to care about the poor convincingly let alone pass anything that does anything more then put the poor in thier place.

What a stupid thing to attack Kerry for. He has the good life but yet he still cares about the poor and would put thru a tax plan that helps the middle class instead of fleecing them as does the Republican tax plan.

26. You heard it wrong - The Heinz family had it BEFORE she married Kerry.
Edited on Wed Jul-12-06 02:40 PM by blm
It is a reassembled barn that is NOW valued at way more than when the Heinz family first bought it. The Heinz have had a vacation home in Sun Valley since 1966.

You do realize that what was a modest investment for the times then, of course has increased in value over a 100 times with today's prices.

27. I saw that show.
It didnt say that moving the house cost fifteen million dollars. It says the house is worth fifteen million dollars today, whatever that means. you can only value something accurately if you sell it. meanwhile, the assessed value is $4.9mm. there is no way the assessed value is lower than the purchase price.

Also, I didnt not hear them say they spend less than four days a year there. in fact, as a four year resident of ketchum, i can guarantee you that she is here more.

here is a pretty good article about the reception THK gets when she is in Idaho.
