We didn't pay Carville's salary, why should we pay Rove's?

All he seems to do is political, rather than policy, stuff. And make divisive speeches.

1. Having to depend on the government for a job
doesn't sound very conservative huh? Where is his entrepeneurial spirit? No doubt he could go to work for norquist if he's hell bent on hating and being stupid.

3. That's a great question
and I've always wondered the same thing. Even if he weren't a political hack, why are taxpayers footing the bill for politcal advice to the President? Seems to me that the RNC should be ponying up on those salaries.

6. True. I worked for a Republican pollster, and the RNC paid us.
So, the RNC should pay Rove.

4. Because Democrats with media access refuse to challenge the notion...
...Okay- perhaps that is not the only reason- but at least it would be a start- for Democrats to go on TV and constantly put forth this question.

We arent waiting for Republican "journalists" to do it for us, are we?

7. Not just Rove
All three branches are on the public dole. What ever happened to the people who just wanted to make a difference without pay? Maybe I'm tired of these a$$holes giving themselves a raise with MY money!!

8. Remember all the fuss they made about Al Gore's having
made a few political phone calls from the Vice President's mansion? They really didn't have much of a point since the mansion serves at the Vice President's home, not office, even more so than does the White House for the president.

Rove. on the other hand, is working full time as a POLITICAL adviser. The White House is not his home, it is his office.

He should not be doing such work out of the White House and should NOT be on the White House payroll. Period.

14. Rove is not simply a political advisor though. He's in the lead
and at the head of political operations and strategy. It's a sure bet he's working for the sole benefit of Republicans.

9. I've thought that as well
But Begala was certainly on the Federal Payroll. But it doesn't seem right that taxpayers are paying the salaries of people who jobs is primarily political.

12. True. But Begala wasn't running around making speeches ...
that trash Republicans as Rove does about Democrats. How much does Rove's travel expences cost us?

But, yes, I don't think we should have paid him either. Good point.
