my wife believe we are seeing the beginning of WWIII...
Anyone see The UK guardian website today?
http://www.guardian.co.uk/israel/Story/0,,1818696,00.html?gusrc=rss

<Snip>Israeli tanks and troops today invaded southern Lebanon after Hizbullah captured two soldiers and killed several others.
<Snip>

Further more look who is approving:

<snip>The Bush administration blamed Syria and Iran for today's kidnappings and violence, calling for the immediate and unconditional release of the two soldiers<snip>

Not saying Isreal's action is wrong...

1. Your wife might have a point. There's a lot going on in the world
Not much of it good, either.

with a 'mistake' or a lie. Which will it be?

4. Those fools have been killing each other for centuries.
Edited on Wed Jul-12-06 03:53 PM by HypnoToad
A pity everybody else wants to get involved. Which is stupid because it's never going to cease.

They need to grow up for themselves. Intervention only does so much good... :( And does no good when others go in using the same means as both of those parties: Weapons to kill one another. Again, they need to remember what they're dying for and make real progress. And get their fringe sections to cooperate, so that the other side really takes a genuine interest at growing up too.

And that's where it goes wrong. Some fringe element fool or evil freak ends up dancing on the minefield, steps on a mine, and the problem starts all over again. It's like the jerk has nothing better to do.

Hisbullah or whatever they want to call themselves are just as guilty. Who bloody cares where it started, both sides need to communicate with their own then with their self-made nemesis. Or be content to wade in blood up to their armpits.

Bush can blame who he wants too, it's not going to do any good either way. Not because he's opening his mouth but because this toddler fight that's going on started long before his intercession and will continue until the sun goes supernova and we all end up as burnt as the toast I tried to make this morning.

Why can't they just grow the fuck up or avoid each other? It's all over a small plot of land and there's a whole planet's worth of land to live on.

I'm sorry for the anger, but the whole situation - especially over how long it's been going on - is beyond human rationale.

17. This is tongue in cheek, but..
I'd like to see both the Israelis and the Palestinians removed from that land. They can each get an island on the opposite side of the world from each other. Then the land can be turned over to the UN and used as a big gathering place for a peace forum.

I know they're fighting because they literally cannot conceive of existing without that particular spot of land. That's something I learned from my pastor. But you're right, it is quite childish and it has been going on since the beginning of time.

19. See, here's my sarcastic, eff-'em-all solution: Make it a theme park.
Everybody out of the pool. Make the whole region a theme park that opens at 9 am and closes at 9 pm. No one stays overnight. $37.50 to get in, and you can buy a pass for 10 visits for $300 or a family pass for 10 visits for $1000.

Employment at Religious Land is by lottery - 200 employees per year and they get pulled out of the rotating drum like on dialing for dollars.

No weapons, metal detectors at every entrance. UN administration and everyone who lives there gets moved elsewhere, again by lottery.

The people who lived there have fucked up their land beyond repair (it's desert now, but it was once lush and green) and they're basically fighting over water and land, not religion. Who knows who "started" it, but dammit, it's time to finish it. They can't manage to get along so no one gets to live there. (If my mother could come up with this type of solution with three kids, then the UN should be able to figure this out....)

Sorry I no longer care about what happens to the people who live there, but with 6 billion of us, we have to either learn to get along to stop giving a flying fuck. They don't want to get along, so I don't want to give a fuck.

5. Actually I think this one would be #5
If you consider the 7 Years War (French & Indian to us) was fought on a global stage, then The Great War, Then What we would call WWII, followed by The Cold War (as #4) which was also fought around the world (in spurts true but globally), leading us to the Global War on Terror or whatever you want to call this mess as #5.

They certainly were related with a brief intermission for rearmament, but the deck of alliances shuffled a bit during that period.

9. I've been saying that since the Bushistas overthrew the government in 2000
Really, that's what the "election" was all about (and the reason why Bush refused to go quietly after losing the popular vote), and we're only seeing the surface being scratched with 9/11 and the Iraq invasion. Give it another 5 - 10 years and it'll be full-blown WWIII.

Of course, the puppet media will only refer to it as a "conflict that has yet to be resolved", but it will be WWIII.

What the ‘Left Behind’ Series Really Means

Have we finally become the dumbest mofos on the planet?

By Joe Bageant

“The best thing about the Left Behind books is the way the non-Christians get their guts pulled out by God.”

-- 15-year old fundamentalist fan of the Left Behind series

That is the sophisticated language and appeal of America’s all-time best selling adult novels celebrating the ethnic cleansing of non-Christians at the hands of Christ. If a Muslim were to write an Islamic version of last book in the Left Behind series, Glorious Appearing, and publish it across the Middle East, Americans would go berserk. Yet tens of millions of Christians eagerly await and celebrate an End Time when everyone who disagrees with them will be murdered in ways that make Islamic beheading look like a bridal shower. Jesus -- who apparently has a much nastier streak than we have been led to believe—merely speaks and “the bodies of the enemy are ripped wide open down the middle.” In the book Christians have to drive carefully to avoid “hitting splayed and filleted corpses of men and women and horses.”

12. That is correct, Dick (mien kampf) Cheney gave the orders for
...Israel to begin invasion of southern Lebanon as well as the Gaza area. The U.S will follow with an air assault against Iran this Sunday July 15th and then the Russia and China with jump to Iran's defense and then total chaos will ensue. Bush will be dancing in the White House

13. Thanks to Bush...
World Leaders are discussing 'pre-emptive strikes' and there's not a damn thing we can do about it. Nations can now torture and there is no nation with the moral authority left to stop it. If WWIII breaks out, Bush is to blame.

14. Well...
"Not saying Israel's action is wrong..." Israel didn't do anything wrong in this case. They were patrolling their border, on their side, and were attacked on their side of the Blue Line! Should they just whine to the UN in hopes they will get live soldiers back, or just wait for the bodies?!

this is how it will start. and as noted on another thread, we don't have any allies any more except Israel, so WWIII is not going to turn out as well for america as WWII did.
