Democratic Underground has New Moderators!
As usual, we had a good response to our call for moderators, and it was extremely difficult to narrow the field down. We had to turn down a number of very qualified people. We hope that everyone who applied to serve as a moderator this turn will consider applying again next term.

A moderator switch is always a little chaotic, so I want to apologize in advance for any problems that may arise over the next few days. Thank you for your understanding.

Please take a moment to say hello to our new moderators, and to express your gratitude to our retiring moderators.

1. Lots of re-upping mods this time, I see.
Those serving again deserve to be doubly thanked.

4. That explains it! A little heavy-handed tonight...

Please let them know that at least SOME discussion of Israel is okay for GD--and shouldn't instantly be condemned to the notorious Israel/Palestine Forum. For more of my complaint on this issue, see post # 23 below, a thread that I started in GD but was (wrongly, I think) moved to I/P.

6. From what I can tell, your thread was moved properly.
New mods or not.

And by the way, I strongly disagree with your characterization of the I/P forum as "notorius." Discussions about the Arab/Israeli conflict are much uglier when they are posted in GD or LBN. In the I/P forum, most of the regulars know the rules and try to follow them, which makes the discussions better than they would otherwise be. In fact, the I/P forum is the only place on DU -- and perhaps the only place on the entire Internet -- where it is possible to have a relatively civil discussion of the topic.

5. A heartfelt thanks to the previous retiring mods, and a warm welcome to...
the incoming mods, whether new or "re-upped."

Thanks so much for all that you do -- your extra efforts to make DU a nice community are very much appreciated!
