Edwards...a one trick pony?
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 11:57 PM by windansea

JE won South Carolina handily as expected, and came close to upsetting Clark in Oklahoma (perhaps due to a certain gridiron endorsement) but can he win outside his home state as Clark and Kerry have?

Current polls in Tennesse: Kerry 31% Clark 26% Edwards 20% Dean 15%

and Virginia: Kerry 32% Clark 17% Edwards 17% Dean 14%

2. Your attacks do your candidate injustice
You are not helping your campaign out. The people are responding to a positive message.

4. Edwards one-trick is that he is from the south
This man has NOTHING else going for him. He hasn't served a full term in the senate yet and he has spent half of it campaigning to be president. Southerns like him because he is from the south, they certainly can't like his record of service to the country. He doesn't have one.

He might very well win big in both Tennessee and Virginia, after that he could have some very big momentum going for him in the north.

Up until last night I would have thought Kerry was the only real contender in OK.

Of course I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for Clark.

and the calls only went out to Sooner alumni. You guys are always looking for an excuse, the media, switzer, etc etc

41. To paraphrase one of your fellow supporters from a different thread,
you are not doing your candidate any favors with your condescending attitude and downright insulting remarks against our candidate. You may not like our candidate or us, and that is your right, thank goodness. By the same token, we have the same right. However, insinuating that our candidate is stupid and "does not think" does not help your cause one iota. As a matter of fact, with me, it has turned me completely against him. Thank You for your efforts on behalf of alienating Clark supporters toward your candidate.

35. I'm looking forward to the end of the attack posts by Edwards supporters
Clark supporters didn't start this new round of rude incivility. Clark supporters were and continue to be very professional. As it stands we cannot remain on the sidelines while we and our candidate are attacked endlessly. We are now defending our candidate. Defend means that we will be pointing out differences legitimate between Edwards and Clark.

Just remember, Clark Supporters didn't start this...

23. its interesting that OK was right next door to AR up till today
and now its a thousand miles away.

Seems it was only yesterday that Clark expected to do well in neighbor state OK due to his deep AR ties.

Edwards was actually born in SC but spent most of his life in NC. Contrary to popular opinion, they are not the same state and if you spent any time there you would realize that the people are actually different too (all lovely but different).

That used to be a line of discussion on these very pages.

Until last night when geography was altered to fit the spin.

Cudo's to the General on his win and cudos to Edwards on his but lets just admit that they were very comprable scenarios.

28. thanks for the spell check (not my long suit)
from the Edwards site...

"John Edwards was born in Seneca, South Carolina and raised in Robbins, North Carolina, a small town in the Piedmont."

http://www.johnedwards2004.com/john_edwards.asp

So, by your definition, NC would be his home state.

24. He'll have to go nuclear on John Kerry to make an impact
Hit him on trade issues in Michigan, put him on his heel in front of the auto unions who are ambivalent about fuel standards.

I think he would be better served by sticking to his positive message and keep himself open for a Vice-President offer. He could continue to trail and going ballistic on John Kerry won't serve him in the end.

I've heard all of the boasting that Sen. Edwards doesn't need or want the job. Get real. The Vice-presidency would be a great platform to effect some of the change he has spoken of in the race.

The job is defined by the person who holds it. Sen. Edwards is a solid, capable Democrat with a great deal of what he could offer the country yet unexplored and unrealized. And he plans to just drop back into the private sector and do some lawyering if he doesn't win the nomination?

I would be highly dissapointed to see John Edwards sink into obscurity. Same for Wes Clark and the others. These are highly talented, committed individuals with a lot to offer the party and the country.

He should look to the future and cross his bridges without lighting them on fire.

39. Why are Clark and Edwards supporters
going after each other instead of Kerry? Isn't HE the one to beat? It looks like a bad strategy to me.

For the record, Kerry is my number two (and Edwards is unthinkable), but sheesh. If we spent as much time beating up Kerry instead of the other number two person, it'd be more productive to BOTH campaigns.
