US and the Brezhnev Doctrine
Let's look over the fact that I am reading Ronald Reagan's Autobiography - I have to admit, it is a good read so far and I even found in the book that he was once a Democrat, voted Democrat and supported Democratic candidates.

I found a few items in his book that jumped out at me, Especially when it came to Communism. It jumped out at me because if you basically replace Communism and Republicans, the views are surprisingly similar.

"The Soviets were more dedicated than ever to achieve Lenin's goal of a Communist world. Under the so-called Brezhnev Doctrine, they claim the right to support 'wars of national liberation' and to suppress, through armed intervention, any challenge to communist Governments anywhere in the world."

A page or two earlier, Reagan wrote "Our Relationship with the Soviets was based on 'detente', a French word the Russians had interpreted as a freedom to pursue whatever policies of subversion, aggression and expansionism they wanted anywhere in the world"

Further Reagan stated "All this while, their policies had been consistently and religiously devoted to the single purpose of destroying democracy and imposing Communism"

I'm hoping I'm not the only one who can see the parallel.

Aside from that, I find it amazing that we vote our Governors, Senators, the President...etc into office, they are suppose to be representing us but it's not us they represent, it is the special interest groups and for their own personal gain. We seem powerless that once we elect someone, there is very little we can do to take them out off office, even when there is corruption involved.

We need to take back America, be able to remove the representatives that are not doing their job, be able to impeach a President when we feel he is taking us in the completely wrong direction. 65% of America feel Bush is doing a horrible job, why can't we vote him out?

Thanks for allowing me to rant.

2. I always find the Presidential Autobiographies to be too much BS
I can't imagine that they reveal their actual mentalities a lot of the time. It doesn't seem to fit.
