Instability in the Middle East
Edited on Thu Jul-13-06 11:30 PM by Steely_Dan
Does anyone else feel that our venture into Iraq in some way has helped to make what's going on between Israel and Lebanon possible? Or am I in "tin hat" region here?

yes
The USA has hardly set an example for patience and diplomacy in its foreign aggressions.

Do you see Bush or anyone trying to set up reasonable and authoritative negotiations?

All I heard Bush say today was that Israel had the right to attack Lebanon because Hezbollah
kidnapped innocent people?

Since when have Israeli soldiers been considered innocents?

This "war on terrah" business is really soooo krazeee.

2. W's philosophy was to deconstruct the mideast
giving way to the construction of a democratic mideast.

7. Democracy
Lets see democracy in the Middle East. We have Hamas being elected as government in palestine. Then we have a Shiite government being elected in Iraq. The USA sees Hamas as a terrorist organization. They see the Iraqi government being controlled by Theran when they leave because both are Shiite. Do you know that Bush originally did not want elections in Iraq because of this reason. But that the Iranian leaders pushed him to make this choice. I don't believe the Bush Administration wants diplomacy in the Middle East. They would like to go take over the oil fields for themselves.

There were still suicide bombings, but war was a lot more remote. Jr really took a hostile I-don't-give-a-shit-about-you-unless-it's-on-my-terms approach that hasn't served us very well.

6. I believe we have further destabilized the region
for generations with our illegal and immoral OCCUPATION of Iraq.
