CRITICS & WHINERS ARE NO HELP. KERRY THANKS THOSE WHO MAKE AMERICA GREAT

Dear DU,

Over the last 19 months, when you could have walked away, you dusted yourself off, got back on your feet, dug deeper, and you have fought even harder.

On the biggest issues of our time, and on the critical campaigns that will determine the outcome of this fall's national elections, no group of people has shown more resolve and provided more support than you. There's no fancy way of saying it: thank you.

Just step back and think for a moment about the impact you have had, the fights that define your convictions, and the impact you will have in November.

Someone who wants to know what our johnkerry.com online community fights for will take a look at what you've done and they'll see something powerful.

They'll see that the hundreds of thousands of johnkerry.com activists who called for a filibuster of the Alito nomination were right. Right about what kind of Justice he will turn out to be -- and right that we need Justices who will protect the constitutional rights of Americans.

They'll see that the nearly 300,000 people who acted in support of a deadline for withdrawing troops from Iraq and the Kerry-Feingold Amendment were right. Right to insist on a change of course in the Bush administration's failed policies and right to keep the pressure on until the future of Iraq is where it belongs -- in the hands of the Iraqi people.

They'll see that the more than a quarter of a million people who have joined Maria Cantwell and me in defending the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge acted because we had to draw a line of protection around this precious natural heritage, and we had to promote an energy policy worthy of America so we never go to war for oil.

But, in 2006, our biggest impact -- our ability to help turn the country around -- will be felt most clearly on November 7th. We're acting together to elect Democrats who will take power out of the hands of Republicans who have tolerated and excused one unfathomable Bush disaster after another -- and put it in the hands of patriots who will put our country back on track.

Our most crucial work is still ahead of us. We'll have to pour everything we've got into the last four months of these critical 2006 elections. But, today, all I'm asking you to do is stop and reflect on what we've done together already.

With your extraordinary support -- a kind of collective activity on behalf of Democratic candidates that is unprecedented in American politics -- together we have contributed or helped raise nearly $10 million for over 160 Democratic candidates, committees, and organizations.

The Democratic Party and its candidates in key races have needed your help, and you have delivered. In fact, the johnkerry.com community has already poured more than $100,000 into each of eight critical races.

We've acted to help Bill Nelson wage his contest against Katherine Harris in Florida. When Republican Senator Ted Stevens went to Washington to threaten Maria Cantwell for refusing to let Big Oil destroy the Arctic Refuge, we made it clear that we'll never let those who stand up for what we believe in stand alone.

At a crucial point in her Illinois House race, we raised $150,000 in two days to help Iraq war hero Tammy Duckworth advance her campaign. And we've stood by Iraq veterans running in Pennsylvania, Minnesota and Colorado as well.

We've drawn attention and support to 12 Democratic challengers running in some of the closest House races in the nation. And we've weighed in to help Democratic challengers in critical Senate races, from Harold Ford in Tennessee to Sherrod Brown in Ohio to Bob Casey in Pennsylvania.

And, in addition to raising funds, we've helped candidates all across the country recruit volunteers to help their campaigns with voter contact and get-out-the-vote efforts.

When we look up on Election Day, we'll be able to say, with pride and enthusiasm, that no group has worked harder or more effectively than we have to produce the Democratic victories we need to move America forward.

You have played -- and I hope will continue to play -- the most crucial role in this endeavor. We have four months of hard work and sacrifice ahead of us and we won't stop working until we win.

Thanks so much for all of your help, energy and commitment. I'm proud of what you do, and I hope I live up to your values and convictions in the way I fight by your side.

Sincerely,

John Kerry

Kerry has been involved in Ohio lawsuits since 2004. If you have PROOF that could win a court battle, I suggest you forward it to his lawyers.

Thanks for proving the OP's point with your petulant, useless lie.

not counted.
All he needs to do is ask for a recount. We sent him the money. he has it.

37. People are hyperventilating. There was a recount
http://www.truthout.org/pdf/kerryedwardssummarychart22405.pdf

Follow the facts: the problems with 2004 are the votes that disappeared (switched or glitched) due to machine error and voter suppression. Votes that don't exist can't be counted. And it didn't help that the machines were locked down by governors of certain states.

there was a recount in 2000. Done by the University of Chicago, paid for by the media. It found that by any criterion used, no matter how you chose to look at the votes, Gore won.

9. I loved this letter.
I found a great line somewhere last night about fashionable cynicism which I'd like to insert here, but I can't remember where I saw it.

In any case, some of us continue to be inspired by Kerry's sheer doggedness. He appears to threaten a lot of people who are very anxious to dismiss him. I am thankful every day for his hard work and tenacity.

The name John Kerry - by itself in a headline - is usually a good troll-call at DU but trolling with a headline is always better sport. What amazes me is that some of these people actually think they can bash Kerry and still fool people into believing they are Democrats this close to November.

Edited on Fri Jul-14-06 05:55 PM by Jeffersons Ghost
I will present his words - often with images I photo-shop - every time he emails me and nothing ANYONE says or does will make me stop until we are victorious.

As for all caps as a pattern, I'm as guilty as others in print media who employ the tool. I've worked extensively in graphic media; newspaper, outdoor and even a magazine for a short while. Right after High-School I worked a few months for Meredeth/Burda printing Better Homes and Gardens in Lynchburg. I can run both old-style Multilyths and did some nice work on a two-color Heidelberg in Lincoln.

I likely best learned the value of All caps, while creating advertising layouts at a small but highly respected family held newspaper.

I no longer seek fame or money.

I wish only to grow prefect tomatoes, while leaving a legacy of freedom and peace to our children.

10. This is a GREAT letter and it couldn't have come at a better time,
for me. Sometimes you wonder why nothing seems to have changed even with all the hard work you put in. This letter spells it all out and puts in context what all we really have gotten done. Senator Kerry has done a lot for us. We have also helped him out a lot too. It is nice to know he recognizes this and is encouraging us to move forward and continue the good fight.

THANK YOU SENATOR KERRY!

It's surprising how quickly a few who post at DU, jumped forth to attack Big John. Like media, when those types attack so rapidly, it's a very good sign. No matter how screwed up the Democratic Party appears, it still must be doing something right because the giant corporations of TV-Bushco keep bashing away at our party.

Harvey Wasserman is involved. And the ballots are going to be destroyed in september. Don't you get it?
IF Kerry stands up about Ohio the repubs fall, but he won't do it.
Bobby Kennedy is involved.
Brad Friedsman is involved.
Kerry is not.
to kerry is now a verb for conceding an election before the votes are counted.

34. Here is the DNC statement issued this morning:
In a harshly worded statement, the DNC's Voting Rights Institute has issued a statement condeming the adminstration of the recent U.S. House race between Democrat Francine Busby and Republican Brian Bilbray joining a growing national outcry in calling for "a swift and verifiable 'manual count' of all 150,000 ballots cast in California's 50th District's 'bellwether' June 6th special election."

"This is no longer about whether or not Busby or Bilbray won the election on June 6th," the just-issued statement reads, "This is about the importance of verifying the facts related to election and voting machine irregularities in this race and the need to ensure an accurate count of all votes cast in this election so that the electorate may have confidence in the announced results in future elections."

The long-awaited announcement of a position on the matter by the DNC comes at the end of more than a month of outrage from both national and state election integrity organizations, many of whom have declared "No Confidence" in the reported results of the race held to replace jailed Republican Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham. Bilbray declared himself the winner on election night, and was sworn into office several days later before all votes had been counted and nearly three weeks prior to the election being certified by either state or county officials...

Terry MacAuliffe did not believe in machine fraud and did nothing for FOUR YEARS to counter the vote suppression and voter roll purges the RNC was working on throughout that time.

35. And, thank goodness, the DNC issued a "DO NOT CONCEDE" until
votes are verified statement last month after Francine Busby conceded before all the votes were counted. They are finally getting it. CONCESSION without verifying votes is automatic failure. So it will soon be a mainstream idea I hope.
I'm not defending the DNC. I think they are way behind the voters.
