9/11 happened. Il Dunce made hay that day, but his actual actions did nothing ..... to help or to hurt (NO tinfoil chatter, please ... just bear with THIS topic ... no thread hijacks ... k?)

After 9/11, pretty much with world support, we went into Afghanistan on a righteous mission. Il Dunce fucked it up and we didn't get Osama, but .... well ..... no mor eharm was done ... really.

Then Iraq. Much harm. All wrong. But, on the world stage, not a huge affect on too many. Really.

But now?

The Middle East is EN FUEGO.

The tribal hatred is hot. David and Abraham and Ibrahim, et al, at each other's throats. And THIS time things can really explode on global level. Not a few hits here and there, but real, no shit, army-to-army war. Involving countries and alliances and regions and client states and sponsor states and bigger war and more escalation and .....

And who's in charge?

If you're not scared .... you MUST be asleep.

3. i disagree.

i think europe is smart enough to stay out of the conflict. i don't see asia getting deeply involved either. and as much as i think ildunce ( i like that, btw) would love to jump into the middle of that particular shit pile, he's already put himself in a position w/ afghanistan and iraq that precludes him from being able to play.

at least i hope that's how it plays out.

4. Oh...not really.
Yes, there's a chance things could spin out of control.
But it's been that way for decades. Everyone plays the
great game, but in the end they know that they'll pay a
heavy price if they actually bet all the chips and lose.

Kim Jong Il is a case in point. He comes right up to the
edge, but doesn't cross it - and the world gives him
way more attention and aid than he deserves. Saddam
went over the line, into Kuwait - and he lost much.

Of course, with * up there, a chance exists of the U.S.
putting everything on the line to go into Iran and Syria;
however, I think the generals would prevent it.

My 2 cents worth, I guess. Flame if you must.
