7. It doesn't make a difference to me
As I never predicted an invasion of Iraq during these two months.

9. The plans include both Iran and Syria if you go by the
neocon blueprint. Whether that's by invasion, bombing campaigns, or proxies, I don't know.

20. that is correct, that was the plan
Iraq has not gone as they planned and pushing the war on has not been possible. If they could have they would have invaded, bombed, and attacked Iran and Syria as someone predicted.
Anything is possible with bunch.

14. Bush mulling sending American troops to Lebanon
I thought that I would resurrect this post since it was tombstoned by the mods in LBN

A "well-connected former CIA officer" has told Harper's Magazine Washington bureau chief that the Bush Administration is considering deploying US troops to Lebanon, according to a post at the magazine's website (RAW STORY has excerpted the post below because the site loads slowly when we link directly). Harper's post is here.

<snip>

The uniformed military, however, is ardently opposed to sending American soldiers to the region, according to my source. “They are saying 'What the fuck?'” he told me. “Most of our combat-ready divisions are in Iraq or Afghanistan, or on their way, or coming back. The generals don't like it because we're already way overstretched.”

feb 2003; why we must go to war richard pearle explains:

"Securing the Northern Border

Syria challenges Israel on Lebanese soil. An effective approach, and one with which American can sympathize, would be if Israel seized the strategic initiative along its northern borders by engaging Hizballah, Syria, and Iran, as the principal agents of aggression in Lebanon, including by:

1. striking Syria’s drug-money and counterfeiting infrastructure in Lebanon, all of which focuses on Razi Qanan.

2. paralleling Syria’s behavior by establishing the precedent that Syrian territory is not immune to attacks emanating from Lebanon by Israeli proxy forces.

3. striking Syrian military targets in Lebanon, and should that prove insufficient, striking at select targets in Syria proper.

Israel also can take this opportunity to remind the world of the nature of the Syrian regime."

this is an excerpt from that "clean break" paper

The Admin's chance to invade Iran, which they would have preferred to do by staging another 9/11, passed in early 2005. It was soooo over by the summer, and absolutely dead and buried by the time Katrina hit and Bush's numbers crashed for good. (By the way, thanks, Presidents Clinton/H.W. Bush! It's great you two could kiss and make up for the sake of civilization.) I was a teeny bit nervous about this June 6, but--look, they can't get it done. Yes, the threat that they would was as real as anything else, but it's passed. Even their support in the pentagon has eroded, which is the end of the ballgame, if you ask me.

17. War by Proxy anyone?????
Edited on Wed Jul-26-06 10:58 PM by banana republican
I am not so concerned about the specifics as to which country * will attack. I am more concerned about the fact that he will.

BTW how do you figure that the timeline was set to 2005 as opposed to an election year. like 2006 maybe???

18. Which year?
There were claims that the invasion is in May/June/July since about 2003. Yep, it's a story that for whatever reason hasn't panned out.

21. Israel gave them the distraction they needed.
After all its WWIII isn't it?

All the talk about invading Iran was just a distraction from from the criminally disastrous job the neocons are doing running the govt.
