Republicans are in jeopardy of losing their grip
on Congress . . .

Poll: Americans strongly favoring Democrats in upcoming elections

WASHINGTON — Republicans are in jeopardy of losing their grip on Congress in November.
With less than four months to the midterm elections, the latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll found that Americans by an almost 3-to-1 margin hold the GOP-controlled Congress in low regard and profess a desire to see Democrats wrest control after a dozen years of Republican rule.

Further complicating the GOP outlook to turn things around is a solid percentage of liberals, moderates and even conservatives who say they'll vote Democratic. The party out of power also holds the edge among persuadable voters, a prospect that doesn't bode well for the Republicans.

The election ultimately will be decided in 435 House districts and 33 Senate contests, in which incumbents typically hold the upper hand. The survey underscored the difficulty Republicans face in trying to persuade a skeptical public to return them to Washington.

Democrats also held the advantage among persuadable voters — those who are undecided or wouldn't say whom they prefer.

1. they hold an advantage now
but I think it's more of an anti-incumbant 'advantage' as opposed to a pro-democrat 'advantage'

the underlying problem for the democrats is their lack of keeping their spines where it belongs -- case in point is pulling that commercial because repubs objected to the flag draped coffins

dems are still trying freaking 'apologizing' for standing up - this opens the door for a 3rd party gaining momentum and siphoning off votes if a 3rd party is able to put up some credible candidates

I base this on the 1992 election scenario when poppy-bush was up against Clinton. Perot took 17% of the vote (even with Perot's in 'n out in again stunts) - this dealt a serious blow to poppy-bush

all I can say is if the Dems are going to stand up then freaking stand-up or just get the hell out of the way

4. I want to disagree with you, but I can't.
It really bothers me that they are predicting not only not losing any seats, but gaining them. That level of arrogance can only be chalked up to rigged machines. :nuke:

6. Very damaging poll for the GOP
Read it in detail, the GOP in Congress is growing weaker and weaker in public support.

Dems in Congress need to get off their asses and stop playing GOP lite to take advantage of the situation.

DNC has a great policy platform, but Congressional Dems aren't following it and as a result aren't gaining much ground.
